The Plough Inn

am a frequent traveller and whenever I enter a hotel room I check the mattress, I have never had an issue before. From the look of things it seemed like old residue of bedbugs. I checked the trip advisor reviews before coming and there seemed to be a few issues of cleanliness however after leaving the hotel I checked more reviews and saw someone had the same issue (but a lot worse) a couple years ago. I just wish I had seen that before booking. For over £90 a night I just find it unacceptable that you will offer someone a hotel room with what I would describe at best, a blood stained mattress and at worst bed bugs. I didn’t even look at the rest of the room or the rest of the mattress, after seeing the edge of it like that we left immediately. Other things to note is the girls toilets downstairs were leaking all over the outside area so had to step over all of the leaking water stream to get to the stairs to enter the room. Don’t recommend at all.

What a fantastic little place Having had a 3 hour drive down, we were greeted with a smile and two delightful rooms. Crisp linen and a smile. Food was fabulous (try the scotch eggs). Beer was good and the conversation was great. Will come back when visiting family. Fully booked for Sunday lunch so make sure you book if coming to stay. Judging by the 3 courses we had well worth booking
