Aqi Skanes Resort

Just retuned after a week at the hotel. Myself and my two children aged 9 and 7 had an amazing week. The staff at the hotel went above and beyond. The pools were great and my children loved the slides. The lifeguards were amazing and always around to help, very friendly and welcoming. The animation team were amazing, providing lots of activities for children and adults during the day and the evening entertainment was the best I’ve ever seen compared to other hotels I have been too. They were all very friendly but not too pushy for you to join in if you didn’t want to. My children loved the mini disco too. I will definitely be returning to this hotel again as myself and my children loved it.

This hotel is outstanding, the staff here are all amazing and very friendly. There are so many activities available during the day and night organised by the amazing animation team. The animation team was so friendly especially Chris, Mahdi, Sam and Alice. They were always there to help and to get you involved. The cuisine was amazing too the food was delicious and there was so much choice. The nightlife was so inclusive too for the kids and for adults there was so much to do, but particularly the animation team was just brilliant and i would definitely come back again.

We returned for the second time and it didn't disappoint. We had a duplex rooms which was clean and gave our teenagers ample space. The entertainments team were brilliant, especially Chris, Sam, Obama and Lulu, and so good at getting everyone involved. We loved the pools and slides and smiles from Mohammed at the bar. The food was delicious and it was so nice to be able to have a table service option at lunch. Ben in the dining room looked after us well. The evening entertainment was so much better this year. Really can't fault this hotel....and we've already booked to come back lol

The rooms are disgusting! This is certainly not a 4* resort. It is more like a 2*. It looks absolutely nothing like the photos shown online. It’s shocking! My son has a severe egg allergy and they said they could not accommodate. We were told that the spaghetti pomodoro contained no egg but within 10 minutes, my son was violently vomiting. The waiters did not care and told me that they were too busy with the drink orders, to provide me with tissues. We arrived on the evening of Saturday 11th July and paid for return flights back to London on Sunday 12th July.

In general the holiday was pretty good, the resort was decent and, like all resorts, had its positives and negatives. The resort was very clean - rooms, canteen, pool, beach, reception, etc. were all pretty much spotless. I would say the rooms were a good bit dated but as mentioned they were kept in good condition by the superb cleaning crew. The beds were ok, nothing special but not uncomfortable either and pillows were good. The pools were ok, very warm though, busy but not crammed. Generally ok for a sunbed, if putting towels down while going for breakfast, only one day we struggled after a long lie in. Beach was spotless and we got sunbeds anytime we went there. Didn't even see a jellyfish but did hear reports of people getting stung, lifeguards had a cream that helped with it rapidly so don't think it was too traumatic for anyone unfortunate enough to be stung. Food was general all-inclusive fare, bit repetitive but overall it wasn't too bad. We always found stuff to eat and some of the evening theme changes were good. They had some good seafood options, the breakfast egg queues were long and, if you don't like undercooked eggs, ask to keep the omelletes on the plate a bit longer as they are runny in the middle. The snack bar at the beach as well as the baguette booth (underneath the snack bar) were good alternatives rather than just going to the canteen each day for lunch. The ice-cream and donut bars were also very nice and well worth multiple visits. Soft drinks were good, beer was ok (Celtia beer) but the cocktails were not great. I do like cocktails and was disappointed by a. the very limited selection (this goes for overall spirit/mixer choices as well). b. the basic ingredients/effort used in making them. They were not really cocktails as such, more just spirit and a mixer combos. A bigger variety of drink selection would have been a massive improvement as it was very limited. Staff were all fantastic, all very friendly and helpful. I did tip and found this was very gratefully appreciated and did make a difference to service. Special mentions go to Omar (afternoon beach snack bar and dinner service at main restaurant) and Mohamed (pool bar) for their tremendous service and great hospitality as well as the man who brought out drinks at the amphitheater entertainment at night, sorry i can't recall his name but he done us proud. Jasmine in the guest relations office helped us out a few times as well. We went on two excursions through Ali Baba (cheaper than Tui). Pirate ship - was ok but we were told we would be swimming with dolphins, which was not the case. They took us out to a fish farm, dolphins were swimming around there and we got pictures but they took us right back close to the mainland before letting us off for a swim. Word of warning, the currant was very strong and, being quite a strong swimming, had to hold onto the ladder to avoid drifting away after struggling to swim back to the ship after my initial dive in. Had a week here this July for a large - 22 people - 'last' family holiday before kids and adults alike go their own ways. Whilst yes the hotel feels a little outdated and tired in places, Tunisia is not sharm or the Mayan coast..if you're expecting 5 star gilt everything then you'll be disappointed. However the staff are incredible, the hotel is absolutely fine, the food is good enough AI, the drinks range is limited but adequate, the pools are clean and large enough, and the facilities are sufficient for having a decent holiday. The team at the wunderbar were superb - shout out to Anis who remembered a pretty long drinks order and was always there with a refill. I'm also going to shout out Aladdin the TUI rep - very knowledgeable and accommodating..messaging me at 22:00 with updates to dive trips All in all, a great first trip to Tunisia.
