Classic hotel. The 80’ 5*. Great view from room 222. Nonetheless the room is outdated. The elevator is ages old. Good for short stay. The location is superb with walking distance to Morrisons and Aldi. Great breakfast and environment.

NOT GOOD AT ALL. We visited earlier this month for my Mother's birthday and although the service was slow, especially waiting for drinks the rest was OK. So we decided we would visit again, just my friend and I. We only wanted a drink and a sandwich. The scaffolding is still up with little sign that the roof is being fixed. The windows are filthy due to the scaffolding, so the promised view across The Bay is really not good at all. I'm not even sure that the roof will ever be fixed as I was advised over a month ago that it was almost done - NO IT'S NOT. We put in our order - my friend orderred his guinness whilst e was waiting for me to arrive and that came quite quickly. After getting no table service I assume we had to to order the bar, so joined the queue the to be told that smeone would be with me shortly. 15 minutes later someone arrived to take our order. To be fair she was very friendly and helpful. However after 30 minutes and still nothing arrived. not even my simple drink of a J2), so I went to the bar and after quite a wait I managed to get the staff behind the bar to get me my drink. The food arrived about another 15 minutes later. The order was for one chicken caesar salad sandwich and one slow-roasted beef sandwich with friend onions. Both were terrible. The chicken caesar was a friend chicken in some sort of breadcrms or batter (not usually what you get for chicken caesar salad), the caesar sauce was a very small dribble and the salad was one lettuce leaf. This came with very wilted and limp leaves. The sandwich was actually a bun, which was OK, toasted but without having any butter and so little sauce I couldn't eat it. The beef sandwich, well it was shredded beef but very little of it, the friend onions were blackand really burnt. Also in the same type of bun, Because the beef and onions were not palatable it meant the unbutterred bap couldn't be eaten either. The only reason I have given this as much as two stars is beause the staff were really very friendly and helpful and obvioulsy under extreme pressures. Sadly this visit has now ensured that I will not visit any establishment that belong to the Inn Collection Group. DO NOT GO - IT'S NOT WORTH IT.

Second time this year we’ve stopped at the Midland for breakfast before having a walk along the front. I so want to like it. It’s a gorgeous, iconic venue, and the breakfast dining room has stunning views across Morecambe Bay. But it was very disappointing. A full set of scaffolding right across the windows ruins the view. This wasn’t there when we came in the winter, they waited til peak season to put it up. The full English breakfasts were grim. The yolk of my poached egg was almost as white as the white, and the sausage was the cheapest and most tasteless I’ve ever had. It was cooked reasonably well, and presented well too, and the service was very friendly. But sadly it feels like they’re buying in the absolute cheapest produce they can find, and then over charging for it. I paid £36.50 for two breakfasts with teas, plus a single serving of toast (which is extra). I would happily pay that for a high quality breakfast with a lovely golden egg and a properly seasoned meaty pork sausage, But I can’t help feeling we were ripped off. Very sadly, I won’t be going again.
