Rokeby Manor

A very nice place to stay for a few days of peace and quiet. Beautiful property, excellent service, friendly staff, good food. What more could you ask for? I'm keen to return - perhaps in the winter when snow falls - to see the big fireplace light up!

I know the management is going to find ways to suppress this review. But beyond the property location, nothing else is right with this place. I booked the Rose Suite for 3 nights at more than 27 k / night. They do not bother informing the guests that the room is on the ground floor near the entrance. For 3 days, we could not open the curtains because the windows are right next to the path for all guests, drivers, staff, and all sundry visitors. All the cars are parked right next to the window - so everyday we would wake up with some loud diesel engine starting up outside our window. I didnt expect a view - but not being able to open curtains and noise all day is not how I expected my room to be. What upset me is that these management does not have any disclosure of the limitation of this room. The restaurant is another sad story. it is over-priced for average food, service is slow. But the biggest thing was that the staff is generally unfriendly. Not rude, but just very sullen and grumpy faces. The 3 rating is still for the building and the location - for the current management, it is a hard 1. Look for homestays in Landour, but avoid this place.

Presently staying at this beautiful hotel with a lovely team..starting from Sajjid at the Front Desk to the waiters at Emily's.Coming to the positives excellent food both at Emily and the Landour Bakehiuse ...stunning views of Dehra on a clear day.Excellent staff members always ready to help you. On the other side the base category rooms are quite small , all on the ground floor...but well equipped and the food though of high quality is a bit overpriced.Would be happy if you add Darjeeling tea in your tea chest A beautiful hotel full of charm and a cozy feel.We upgraded to the Rhododendro n Suite on the first floor.. It is a delightful room with a huge Balcony ..which feels magical at night well worth the extra bucks Thank you all at the Rokeby..you guys ROCK ...will be back very soon

Rokeby Manor is all things British n more... It just takes you back in history and you feel like you are living in an era gone by. The hotel decor is truly British in every way... the lounge area, fireplace, library, rooms, upholstery, restaurant and garden is all very classy. The staff n service is simply great. We stayed for a night in Rose Suite and another night in Daffodil Room and loved both totally. Emily's restaurant is beautifully decotated - ceramic plates on walls, photoframes on walls, hand painted walls, windows all around, the Wilson's Chamber... its just so wonderful.... Food is too good n worth the price. Breakfast was good. The Highlands area is a good place to walk to and spend some quiet time. The Tea Garden is to die for - riot of colors all around - such a great variety of flowers in a small place and so well maintained!! We also opted for High Tea in the garden and we enjoyed it so much! Highly recommend a minimum 2 nights stay. Hope to return sometime to Landour n stay at Rokeby.

Excellent serene location, great food, very hospitable staff Lovely 2 bed cottage - Pine Tree Lodge is familiar as stayed there before We faced couple issues : - too many dogs in the town. We have never experienced that before. This is our 3rd stay and perhaps 6th visit overall. Some of them seem to be aggressive too - not a great feeling when you walk around which is what we love to do - the taps in the wash basins and kitchen need to be single lever taps. Double taps require adjusting the temperature of the water each time which is annoying - staff in the cottages change without prior warning. They do communicate instructions which is a saving grace but it would be better if the chef/butler continue for the period of stay - it would be better if you mention somewhere (maybe with the booking confirmation) that liquor is not available in Landour. We forget - though fortunately we had carried some but would have been better prepared if reminded

Didn’t know even a small single room could be that comfortable and nothing bigger would be desired. Comfortable bed and pillows with all required amenities in room. Turn down service is good. But I miss the afternoon tea they used to serve in the tea garden
