Washington House

Loved our stay there, Arthur and Aileen as well their Lurcher Connie made sure we were well looked after and made at home. Beautiful home, walks full of art and delightful character all around. Very homely, immaculate too. Am a fussy sleeper and can never get a good sleep anywhere I go. This may be the first and only place I truly had a good comfortable sleep. Mattress was just right, pillows were perfect, the sheets were nice and I loved the fact we had two single duvets each so we didn't have to play tug o' war during the night with the duvet like we do back home. Haha. We both had a very restful and peaceful night's sleep each night we stayed (3 glorious nights). Beautiful room, loved the quirky tree lamp in the Green Room which I believe we got. Great reading materials too, enjoyed reading "The Broons" in bed while my other half enjoyed re-reading "The meaning of Liff". We know the answer to that one. 😉 We were spoilt rotten with Arthur's artistic and top quality breakfasts. We usually neglect ourselves back at home and skip breakfast. It was amazing to have breakfast made for us each morning and we made sure we tried new things. Beautiful food! Not forgetting the delicious home made biscuits that we received in our room to enjoy with our cuppa. Thank you so much Arthur, Aileen and Connie truly for our magical weekend stay. We didn't want to leave but sadly we had to. Highly recommended! Hope to be back next year! Nairn is a wonderful place to stay, plenty fresh sea air and walks to be enjoyed.

Beautiful house , lovely people…ideally situated in the heart of town , close enough to everything but set in a peaceful street where you are near enough to see and hear the water.A short stroll and you are on the beach or in the Main st….oh and Connie seems pleased to see you when you come home 😎

Washington House was a very comfortable, relaxing and peaceful place to stay. We stayed for two nights while enjoying a short weekend away. The room was lovely with a beautiful bathroom. We particularly liked the very comfortable bed, very high quality bedding and beautiful fluffy towels. Arthur and Aileen were lovely hosts - they were on hand for advice or to chat but also unobtrusive. Breakfast was delicious. We really enjoyed our stay and we’re very grateful to Arthur and Aileen for sharing their lovely home with us. We would love to return. Thank you.

From the second we walked in the door of this stunning old mansion, we were charmed and delighted. Our host, an older gentleman who had lived in Nairn for 30 yrs, was lovely and just the right amount of chatty. The decor of the house was spot on - bohemian and elegant, w/ all sorts of interesting wall hangings and knickknacks. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable and the hosts thought of everything - homemade shortbread waiting in your room upon arrival? Check. A superb selection of teas and coffee? Check. They also happened to have my favorite brand of soap/skincare on hand - a very luxurious and expensive brand that I was surprised to see in a hotel. I wish we could've stayed a lot longer than we did.

There have been so many five star ratings for Washington House that yet another one almost seems superfluous. However, my wife and I can only reiterate what has gone before. Arthur, Aileen (and Connie the dog) are so welcoming and make you feel at home from the moment you arrive. The accommodation is sumptuous, oozing quality throughout and we had a wonderful view over the sea. I assumed that Arthur was a cordon bleu Chef given the amazing breakfasts he served for us (my vegetarian diet held no fears for him) and as a previous reviewer has said, what a pity we could not savour what he might concoct for an evening meal! Nothing was too much trouble for them and we had a number of interesting conversations about the local area, for which they passed on many useful tips and suggestions. To cap it all, Arthur even checked my car tyre pressures on our final morning before we headed off over the mountains down towards Ballater! We will definitely return to Washington House - and for a longer stay next time.
