"I really like this hotel; it's very unique. Breakfast in the restaurant is à la carte, but the bread and blueberry yogurt are free. The room also provides two complimentary glass bottles of water each day. It's not mineral water, but the local drinking water. ☺️ The hotel is located in the small town of Newbury, surrounded by beautiful scenery and many English-style country cottages. 🏡 I was so moved. 💗 I just wanted to enjoy a different kind of rural scenery from the city. 😄"

"We met our son at this pub as it's halfway between both our homes! It never disappoints! The staff were welcoming and friendly. Nothing is ever too much trouble. Our lunch was delicious and beautifully presented. We all had the Eton Mess - delicious!"

"We always stay here, but on this occasion I wasn’t very happy as the bedsheets/pillow case smelt damp. And the door hinge was loose which made it feel unsafe. Room was swapped in the ended so I’m happy about that."

"Lovely clean room spacious everything you could need for an overnight stay. Unfortunately there was no hot water in bath/shower only luke warm. Sink tap very hot and the mixer bar get hot to the touch but water did not get hot. Consequently we had to have a cool bath in the evening after a long day and cool shower first thing. As it was late in the evening no member of staff on duty to ask"

"Room was fine although the bathroom flooring and bedroom carpet were showing signs of wear. Had a view of a massive aircon outside the bedroom window, which was on the roof of the restaurant. This resulted in some low-level noise but we did sleep. Didn't eat at the hotel as we went into Newbury for dinner and had breakfast at the Costa in Tesco around the corner."

"The lodge is a great location if you are going to the racecourse. We arrived at around 1:30 as the first race was at 2:30 and was told that if we wanted to check in early we would have to pay a fee of £20. When the races often start at around 2-2:30 this seemed unreasonable. I had to come out of he racecourse between races to check In. I’ve stayed at the Lingfield racecourse hotel and they checked us in 12:30 as our room was ready. Went for breakfast at around 7:50 and there was no menus out, the staff seemed totally disorganised. There was no instructions on how to order food. The continental “help yourself” was ok but had very little fruit options. They did have alpro soya and oat milk as milk alternatives. The room was clean and tidy but very basic. It did have a free standing fan which was good in the warm weather. The bad was big and comfortable. The shower was nice and had shower gel. The customer service let it down a little."

"christmas dinner with friends. the roast potatoes were off the scale. crispy and totally yummy. in fact it all was delicious. the pub is friendly and cosy. still retains the air of a proper pub with room for drinkers and eaters. board games for the kids so they are not on their phones and a section for the footie fans that doesnt take over the pub. love the wall paper in the girls loo. very smiley land lord. had a fab night"
