The Headland Hotel and Spa

Booked this beautiful hotel for my husbands birthday, stayed Sunday to Tuesday with a spa day booked on the Monday Our room was lovely and the views were stunning! We had dinner at The RenMor - The staff were so lovely and the food was amazing! Also had breakfast.. again amazing! such a selection to choose from and we were always quick to be seated The spa day was so relaxing we had the couples massage followed by the afternoon tea which I would definitely recommend! Later that evening we popped down to The Deck for Pizza and a cocktail and watched the sunset which was perfect All staff went above and beyond - They all wished my husband a happy birthday and they were all so friendly - thank you for making our stay so special 🥰

We often eat here, but will reconsider in the future. We know that the restaurant was closing the next day for refurbishment, but surely the kitchens should still be at full capacity? Our lunchtime meal was very poor quality, a complete contrast to the usual offerings. The fish and chips = fish only lukewarm. Burger = burger, but not all of the trimmings with it. Tomato soup = indifferent. Coronation Chicken sandwich = offering much reduced and served on a much smaller plate - an attempt to make it look larger? Tomato and asparagus bruschetta = slice of toast with a great deal of chopped tomato and 3 small slivers of asparagus. During the meal, no member of staff came to ask if the meal was ok. This whole meal was supposed to be a special birthday meal. Complaining to the staff resulted in apologies and a reduction of the bill, but we would have preferred a memorable meal.

People need to remember when doing reviews the saying "You're not at home you're on holiday!" But staying at The Headlands is nearly like being at home. Very cosy and comfy, very clean , gorgeous food and lovely staff. The spa is great! Top tip, grab a cocktail and watch the sunset .
