"Arrived early evening to a friendly welcome, the reception area was informal and staff readily available. Room was cosy and well equipped with tea and coffee and two bottles of still spring water. Two sets of towels ample storage space and a cosy double bed with extra fluffy pillows (3). Ensuite shower and toilet in the room and smart tv with wifi and chromecast facility. Great tucked away from main road location with easy access to adjoining pub/restaurant. Ideally situated for local attractions like diggerland, xscape, and royal armories. Good value fir money"

"Hotel breakfast is delicious! Opposite is the ski resort, very suitable for friends who come to ski. The room is also very large and tidy, very comfortable for two people!"

"The price is absolutely cheap, you can drive to York Ole's park &ride for half an hour to transfer to the city bus. The room is not small, very clean, parking is free, there is a restaurant at the door, all holiday inn for breakfast are the same. There is no elevator, you need to carry your luggage upstairs."

"Amazing stay with amazing staff! Booked a room for my mums 80th birthday along with dinner and a meal in the claret jug with family the following day. Everything was perfect for my mum from room to the food and the service - a special shout out to Vicki Wood and (I’m so sorry I didn’t get her name) the lady who took care of everything for us at the Claret Jug. Absolutely recommend"

"The pub and the room themselves are lovely.  We were served by a man behind the bar who greeted us with ‘what’s the name?’ He then couldn’t find the booking as he didn’t have the correct apps from which we booked through…continued to say we wasn’t booked even though proof of booking was given.  His approach changed as soon as he realised he was in the wrong, showed us to the room where we found it wasn’t what I had payed for. I booked a king size bed with two singles, was given a room with just two singles. The bathroom had hairs everywhere and hardly any toilet roll. Obviously hadn’t been cleaned and replenished. When we returned back to the room later on in the evening the room was extremely warm, tried to adjust the heating where we discovered it was only able to be changed by the bar downstairs. The bar closed at 10pm to which afterwards there was no staff on the premises. Either be too hot or open the window and have the loud noises from a main road. Couldn’t win either way.  As mentioned very nicely decorated rooms but issues throughout."

"The bathroom could do with a bit of TLC, door wouldn't close properly and the paints coming off. Other than that was okay, as expected - although no bacon at breakfast."
