North Devon resort

Overall very good. Accommodation and public areas very clean and generally tidy. What makes it good are the staff. All especially reception staff were very helpful and friendly. A bit more attention to detail needed from housekeeping - several items missing, no wash liquid, handwashing or shower gel in the containers -had to ask reception staff to sort. No plug for kitchen sink, dishwasher not working on arrival but nothing to wash up with. Appearance of exterior needs improving as first impressions are that the resort is tired and run down, but the interior is overall very good.

A good stay at North Devon Resort. Staff were friendly and helpful. Our accommodation a 2 bedroom superior apartment was of a good standard but too near the event hall where music at night disturbed our sleep. Unfortunately our daughters 3 bedroom superior apartment was in need of a refurbishment. Although it was clean it needed decorating. The whole site could do with a paint on the outside and communal toilets in event hall/restaurant and changing rooms for pool need an overhaul. The pool was clean and in good order and the food at the monkey puzzle restaurant was good.

We stayed in a 2 dedroom standard apartment (22G) which was spacious, however dirty with stains all up the walls, sofas and a huge one on the carpet. Very disappointed with the cleanliness and stained furnishings. We always stay in budget accomodation, however we have never experienced such a run down apartment. I spent 30 minutes cleaning the apartment and put towels over the dirty sofas to make it more comfortable. The pool, bar and restaurant were excellent and the staff were lovely.

The apartment was very well equipped, spacious and very comfortable. The staff are super friendly and when they say they are doggo friendly, they mean it! The food was AMAZING! Highly recommended! However, I left with a broken heart, they had run out of prawns so I wasn't able to have the jacket potato with king prawns one last time before leaving. Prices were very reasonable too! They have everything for the entire family! Game area, library, swimming pool, young children zone. Considering how many people go there, everything is in good condition. The area itself was calm, quiet and therefore, it was a relaxing getaway. Both adults and children (teenagers) are in agreement, we need to go back next year!

This place is absolutely dire and I really wouldn't send my worst enemy here. The pictures are misleading and make it look much nicer than it really is. The 'resort' overlooks a derelict building which is boarded up and has a large amount of furniture dumped outside. The door to our apartment didn't lock, the walls were thin enough to hear our neighbours, the shower was dirty, the dining table was uncleaned and the kitchen had minimal equipment. Certainly not enough to prepare anything other than a ready meal. On the 'resort' grounds there were a number of buildings that appeared to be in a state of disrepair, which were supposed to be secured to prevent access. They were not properly secured and could easily be accessed by anyone, including children. Outside the reception area there was a dead mouse and an 'unidentified ' stain on the ground. If you have any problems after reception closes, no emergency contact details are provided. You have to speak to the other staff members who, I am led to believe, do not work directly for NDR but separate businesses. We also understand, from local residents, that NDR currently provide accomodation to the local authority. The whole vibe of the place is understandly very 'off'. We reported our concerns to NDR the following morning and were met with sympathetic disinterest. We were advised to complain to the booking agent, who in turn advised us to complain directly to NDR. We have complained to all involved parties and have not yet received any response. We left after 1 night here because it was so awful and we would not recommend NDR to anyone. Ilfracombe as a whole is suffering from a lack of funding making it appear very 'unloved'. There are some lovely little cafés and businesses who really do their best to lift the somewhat broken spirit of Ilfracombe.

Amazing resort really friendly staff, beautiful clean apartment, entertainment every night, beautiful and cheap food, kids had an amazing week and so did we, so much for the whole family!
