First, I’d like to recognize the following employees: Jamal (at the Club Lounge): for making a pretty disorganized check in process feel not so bad. He provided us with a detailed tour of the resort while we were waiting for our room. He kept us updated with a smile. Thank you. Kyle (the gift shop): for going above and beyond by wrapping our items. ensuring everything would be safe for travel and also ensuring all of our Coral level discounts were applied. Really appreciate his friendly demeanor and offering to assist without being asked. Deborah (American Tavern Breakfast & Dinos Lunch): for always providing great food service during our stay. She was calm whenever things got extremely busy and always offering to assist. This resort is absolutely beautiful and there are enough restaurants, pools and activities to keep you busy during your stay. That said, here is where Sandals Royal Barbados can improve: Club Level Service: Although we pre-checked in 2 weeks prior, check in was stressful. We were there with another couple slightly before check in time. Went to eat, etc. while waiting for our room. When we returned, the lounge quickly filled up with several frustrated couples also waiting for their rooms. So, it no longer “felt” exclusive since everyone was cramped in a room. Everyone began expressing their angst, etc. Check in process needs to be improved. Perhaps more employees cleaning and ensuring rooms are ready on time and even a bit earlier. When we finally got our room (thanks again Jamal), no wi-fi. We called the lounge, was advised to give them 10 minutes. two hours passed, had to call again to remind them. The light fixture was broken right outside of our door with wires exposed - we let them know at least four times; no one repaired during our stay. Room Service: No one answers. We tried everyday to order room service - 3 different extensions…no luck. We really wanted to enjoy at least breakfast on our patio…once. So, that was a miss. Whenever we needed something from the lounge, like making a dinner reservation - felt like we were disturbing the staff on duty. lol. One of the restaurants - American Tavern - was randomly closed for dinner during our entire stay. Walk Out Pool: Club Level Side - needs to be cleaned/maintained like the main pools. Lots of rubbish from the trees, dead insects, etc. made it difficult to enjoy. Spa: There are individual rooms that were under construction so the only option for a message was outside. They also separate the outdoor spa pools for whatever reason. We didn’t utilize since it would not be a “couples” experience so our credit was not used. Highlights to note - Although the water is pretty rough on the beach, Sandals did an excellent job of creating two rock barriers to alleviate the strength of the waves.
