Margaritaville Lake Resort Lake of the Ozarks

The place was so cozy and welcoming. We had a great time walking to each restaurant and seeing the boats go by. Would love to visit in the summer for more of a buzz, but it was great and relaxing just the same. Recommended for everyone. the staff was incredibly warm.

Went here for a two day conference, I will never be back. Stayed in the Driftwood building, room 925 and upon checking in the room smelled very musty and was not the most clean. I woke up the next morning to bite marks on my face and hands. I checked the mattress and actively found numerous CRAWLING BED BUGS just under the fitted sheet. I didn’t even need to lift the mattress. There were also blood stains on the sheets from where I assume I was bitten by the bugs . I went to the front desk where I was told I had to wait to speak to security. A security guard came over and said “we hire an outside company to do an investigation. We are sorry, these things happen”. My company card was refunded for the price of the entire stay. As the day wore on I developed more and more bites and they are now covering my entire body. I left early and did not attend day 2 of my conference. I ended up having an allergic reaction to the bites and saw my dermatologist, who said for me to have as many bites as I have all over my body, the entire room is more than likely completely infested with bed bugs and has been for quite sometime. This would explain why the front desk was not at all shocked when I showed them the video I took of the bed bugs crawling on the sheets. I then threw everything away I brought to the conference. Bags, purse, pillow, clothing, shoes, ect. I could not take the chance of bringing my things and bringing any bugs to my own home, so I cut my losses.

I wanted to express my deep dissatisfaction with my recent stay at your property. From the very start, the experience was far below expectations. Upon check-in, I was greeted by a child sitting on the counter, which is completely unprofessional. Then, the staff member assisting us was distracted and could not focus on checking us in. It felt like we were an afterthought while she handled another guest's needs. Our room, 689, was located next to the live band for the MFA group. When we called at 10:30 PM to ask when the noise would end, we were told, in essence, "too bad, conferences are the priority, and the noise will continue until we say so." We didn’t get any rest until 12:30 AM. To add to the chaos, Canadian geese landed outside our room, honking loudly through the night. I suggest you explore solutions for deterring these geese from your property. One of your staff members, Olive, reached out to check on my stay, and I took the time to detail my issues. She acknowledged them with a "thanks" and said she’d inform the staff, but then I never heard from her again. I didn’t want to be your learning tool—I wanted to feel better about my stay, but instead, I was ignored. The food at the pool restaurant was subpar. It was overcooked and dry. The pizza, in particular, was poorly made, with sausage that resembled something from a fast-food chain, not what I would expect from a resort. Now, regarding my room: we stayed from Saturday to Wednesday, and during the entire stay, no one cleaned our room. When I asked to use the laundry facilities, no one knew where they were. After eventually finding them, I had to set up an account and prepay. This process took 20 minutes and cost me $10 upfront, but I’ll never get the $6 back. I bought laundry detergent with the only quarters I had. When I went to the front desk to explain what happened and ask for detergent, Jazzy (I think that was her name) disappeared for 15 minutes and came back with a dollar bill. What am I supposed to do with a dollar bill to buy detergent? She didn’t care, and I had to resort to using hand soap to wash my clothes. It was a joke. It seems clear to me that the staff doesn't care about guests who aren't attending conferences. Maybe if we were here for one of those, the service would have been better. I will be sharing these concerns on social media, as I now feel my time won’t be wasted. I encourage you to reassess your staff and the overall guest experience, particularly for those not involved in conferences. Sincerely,

Spent 6 nights at the Margaritaville Lake of the Ozarks. Many issues! There were 3 adults and 2 children that shared a double, king bed, lake view room. The room was spacious, however our stay left much to be desired. The resort, at least the building we stayed in, was a little run down. See pictures of our room. Public areas were OK, but a couple of the meeting rooms we used were shabby and not clean. Ceiling tiles were damaged, missing, or dirty. Vents were absolutely filthy. Be cautious of things on the website and what is reality at the resort. Website indicated WiFi was an extra charge. When we arrived, we were told it was free. Nice! Website indicated that housekeeping would come every other day. When we checked in, we were told it was every third day. Actual reality was that housekeeping never came during our stay. They did show up about an hour before checkout time the day we left. We had to ask for towels every single day, dirty towels were never collected even when clean towels delivered. We ended up putting our trash out in the hallway and buying our own trash bags. If little to no housekeeping is going to be provided than each room should have a vacuum, broom, and mop! The lack of housekeeping and having to request basic necessities every single day was ridiculous. The king beds were way past their prime. The edges were completely broken down which made sitting on the bed or sleeping difficult. Linens were OK. Worn, but mostly clean. Duvet cover on one bed was stained. Lots of pillows with varying firmness. Pillows were good. Temperature in the room never got below 74 degrees, no matter the temperature setting. At night the temperature got to 78 degrees every single night. We paid extra for a lake view room and while we did have a view of the water it was not a scenic nice view. The view was of marinas and other buildings with a little water in the middle. Definitely not worth the extra cost for a ‘view’. We did have a balcony. It was very small, but was an outside area. Electrical outlets are limited. Cleanliness was an issue in our room. Things like woodwork and vents not clean. On our first use of the shower hair came up out the drain. Our floor was a vinyl wood look plank and was nice. The resort is built on the hills and so there were many multiple levels. Chauffeured golf carts were available for traveling to and from the pools and restaurants. Only a few times did we have to wait for more than a few minutes for a ride. There are 3 pools, but they are each very small. During peak times there are no chairs or tables open as they are very crowded. The restaurants were OK, nothing great, and were over priced for the delivered product. For being called Margaritaville the margaritas were awful! Definitely do not recommend them. Our family stayed here for 4th of July week, arriving on Monday with high expectations. The only reason we booked Margaritaville was for the indoor waterpark, which we confirmed would be open when we spoke with a staff member named Rachel during booking. We saw on the website that it would be closed Tuesday and Wednesday. She assured us it would be available during our stay. Again, very misleading. To our surprise and frustration, the indoor waterpark was closed on Tuesday and Wednesday—with zero notice. No emails, no signs, and worst of all, no mention of it when we checked in. We had three children with us, and this was a huge letdown. Unfortunately, our check-in experience with the front desk receptionist “Jazzy” didn’t help. She treated us like an inconvenience from the moment we arrived. We didn’t receive a proper greeting, no real explanation of where our room was, and she gave us one-word answers as if we were bothering her. She was the only receptionist at the front desk and there was a long line which explained why she was probably rushed and frustrated to her defense. Most importantly, she didn’t even mention the waterpark closure—something that would’ve been crucial for us to know. We had booked a lakeside room, expecting a relaxing space. Instead, we were shocked by the condition: the door desperately needed paint, the room was dirty, and there was a strong smell of smoke despite it being a non-smoking room. There were flies in the room and it was a major disappointment. We’re doing our best to make the most of the trip—we drove all the way from Ohio—but it’s incredibly disappointing. If you’re considering staying here, I highly recommend confirming exactly what is open and available before booking. Ask detailed questions and get things in writing if possible. Don’t assume anything based on the website or a verbal promise.

Hotel was in very poor condition. Couch was covered in stains! The balcony was not sturdy. I was afraid for my kids to even be on it! Railings on the balcony were even worse and were very wiggly and splintered. We stayed in the driftwood building. It has NO ELEVATOR. We were placed in a room on the top floor and had to walk all of our luggage up 5 flights of stairs. There were holes in the drywall of the stairwell. We have kids and it was an additional $20 per kid to go to the water park, that has NO lifeguard. So I had to pay an additional $5 to go in to watch my kids swim to assure they were safe. We had to park way up the hill (not much parking in front of building) from our building and make multiple trips up and down the hill to the car to get all of our stuff to our room. Paying $265 per night (plus a $20 per night resort fee) I expected the hotel to be much nicer. I would NOT recommend this hotel for anyone to stay at! We ate at land shark and the service wasn’t great. Took us 2 hours to get food. Also ate at the pizza place. Pizza was ok. Coffee shop was ok too but nothing special.
