Hotel Montmartre Mon Amour

Brilliant location, comfortable and spotlessly clean accommodation, brilliant communication before and during our stay. Bars, restaurants, public transport, shops and top Paris sites nearby. What’s not to like? We visited for a long weekend and this was perfect.

Having stayed in a variety of arrondissements and accommodations, from apartments to small boutique hotels to large international hotels, over the course of 15 visits to Paris, we decided to make Montmartre our base for this most recent visit. We had a 2 bedroom “unit”(rooms 30 and 31), which were two separate rooms in the same hall. The larger of the two rooms included a small sitting area/breakfast nook and fully equipped kitchenette. The beds in both rooms were queen-sized and very comfortable. The rooms are relatively new and well maintained. The bathrooms, especially the one in room 31, were very very small. Although I had read the reviews in advance, I was still not quite prepared for this. Depending on your preference and let’s be real, your own body size, it can be more than a minor inconvenience. WiFi was pretty bad, so I wouldn’t count on being able to rely on it. However, we were advised to use another unit’s WiFi and that worked fine. For breakfast, I made the short trek down the hill to grab croissants and other pastries every morning. There are also a couple of convenience stores down the street where you can pick up water, drinks, and snacks. There are also a Carrefour Express and Aldi that are about 10 minutes away on foot. We did use the washer and dryer a couple of times, so that was a great amenity to have. I did take issue with the fact that we were only given 4 towels to use during the entire 4-night visit (there were 4 of us). If you wish to have your towels replaced, it is a fee of 30 euros per day. However, the hotel manager handled the matter in a satisfactory manner when I raised the concern, so we very much appreciated the resolution. In hindsight, we could have used the washer and dryer to launder the towels, but we weren’t interested in doing that on a daily basis. The building itself is modern and secure as a passcode is required for entry into both the front entrance and the individual rooms. And finally, Edgar, the on site manager, was absolutely wonderful. He was helpful and very responsive to our questions and requests. Would we stay here again? Probably not due to having checked off Montmartre on our list. Would we recommend Edgar Suites? Yes with caveats - you have to be very mobile and capable of climbing the hills and stairs all over Montmartre AND you must be okay with navigating cramped bathroom quarters. Overall, this was a great stay.
