My husband and I usually stay in Best Westerns, or typical nicer chain hotels for context on our hotel/motel expectations. We thought it would be romantic and fun to stay in more of an intimate setting for a weekend away in July in Paso. We came to town while the Mid State Fair was around, so we expected slightly elevated prices, but we paid $1,000 for two nights and we don't feel like the value was there, really at all. Firstly, we could've stayed almost a week in Pismo or any of the surrounding areas for that price... (Best Western down the road was booked up for our stay so can't compare that weekend specifically, but is currently showing $139/night as of 7/21) Secondly, on the note that a boutique motel is different than a chain hotel: We figured it's a cute, romantic motel and what the heck we never do that so why not! The website advertises a nice breakfast, coffee & tea, complimentary water, bath robes- a whole ordeal. Unfortunately, our "experience" was literally just the four walls of our room. The room itself was nothing special. It had mugs and water you could pay for if you wanted, the bathroom was teeeeeeny tiny (no counter space just a free standing sink, toilet, and small shower), no robes, no smores kits (advertised on website), no coffee or tea options, everything felt damp, and the shower and sink backed up all weekend whenever we used them (gross). Also, the walls were rather thin... 'nuff said. We got to breakfast about 8:30 or 9 both mornings and there was some activia yogurt, and granola, maybe a piece or two of some sort of bread left? The coffee machine was set out but there wasn't any cream left or anything like that, so we ended up eating out both mornings, which was frustrating when you are spending that kind of money on "the experience". At this point I was asking myself: "What experience? Listening to our eager-to- be-there neighbors? And trying not to ding our car on 'Love Island' in the middle of the parking lot?" We also weren't impressed by the motel's location in town. It's on the corner of a super busy street. The firepit is just a lil island in the middle of the already small parking lot, which is very cute but certainly not intimate. On a separate note, if you were dressed up at all, or wanting to walk to some of the eateries or antique stores it was a pretty decent walk. We just ended up driving everywhere. If you're dressed down, and or in tennis shoes it wasn't so bad, but ladies, are any of us going out to nice dinner in Paso in tennis shoes? No lol I really really wanted to like it, the concept is so cute, and Johanna Gaines herself could have designed the place, and I know it's a family run business, but it just felt all weekend like maybe it used to be nicer than it is now? It was literally the running joke of our trip: like, "did we just get the worst room?", "Are we on Prank'd?", Or we also repeated: "Did we just end up there on a super off weekend?" I don't know, regardless, we were u

The bathrooms are very small, the room was small. The faucet in the restroom was loose and needs to be fixed. The amenities are very limited. No extras just a place to sleep and shower.

Cute little hotel Little boutique hotel. Cute. Walking distance to town about 2 or 3 blocks. Rooms were clean however towels were threadbare . Really old the kind I would cut up and use for rags. So unusual as hotel was cute. For me the beds needed upgrading.
