We finished our 10 days vacation at Calm Resort & Spa in Pasikudah, 2 adults and a child. Overall it was a pleasant and relaxing experience, exactly what we hoped for. The hotel complex is 2-floor building hidden in a beautiful and well maintained garden. Although you are in a resort, you do not feel like that, the hotel is directly and naturally connnected to beach. You almost do not see the building from the water. The sea was a dream come true - soft sand, warm water, now and then a wave, clean, very few people, we often felt like we had the sea only for us. Plenty of shadow (umbrellas and trees) to hide from the sun, comfortable sunbeds and very friendly beach boys. We just used the swimming pool twice, because the sea is why we travelled here for! But it was nice and clean. The room was large, so was the bed and additional bed, and the bathroom. Enough storage room. The room fitting showed some wear and tear, it was not shiny new, but it was clean and good. The staff - everyone we met - was very friendly, neat and helpful. I do not remember such overall positive impression on staff (all the time, and everyone) from previous travels. I want to dedicate a special part to the restaurant. Our daughter has a food allergy, cannot eat gluten. We checked in advance if they can cater for her, so we hoped they will. The approach of the staff was great. They were not very familiar with coeliac disease, it is a rare thing in all Asia, but did their best to understand what she cannot eat. The chef Nishantha and his deputy Sajahan always resposibly identified the safe food for our daugther, and Dammika with the waiters were very helpful in this matter as well. That made our vacation very comfortable and carefree. We had full board and were very happy with the choice and quality of the food. We also managed to go to trips, some of the sights are in reasonable distance (Sigiriya around 2,5 hours drive, Minariya about 2 hours), some are further. A great thing is the coral spol right in the bay not far from the hotel - ideal for snorkeling, full of fish and corals. Reception was very helpful and secured the trips for us. We did not try spa, but ste spa staff we met looked very friendly, as everyone in the hotel. While we are not resort vacationers and this type of holiday it is not our usual choice, we loved our stay at Calm :).
