La Folie Lodge

Stayed here during three days with our Cambodia-Laos group tour. Very remote location, only accessible by raft, supplied by the hotel, no problem at all. It takes about 10-15 minutes to cross the Mekong river on a comfortable wicker chair on a motorized raft. Hotel consist of a major building and on each side, left and right, I think 12 cabins. Each cabin had two rooms and separate bathroom for each. Also a nice balcony with Mekong view. Well equipped, very clean and cosy...all wooden structure, also the bathroom. Good shower and all necessary amenities were present, even a hair dryer. Good and clean swimming pool on the premises with free chairs and towel service. Service was great !!! My wife sandal was broken and the management have send it to one of the small villages for repair...without any cost ! Off course we have given a donation for this service ! Breakfast was rather slow and little bit chaotic the first day but diner and breakfast the second day was good. Nice selection of wines against affordable prices. Service from front desk and management was superb ! As said...very remote location. There are several villages and temples and schools on this island, you can visit them by hotel bike. Rented two bikes for one hour...without any charge. Excellent place for, (a very !!!), relaxing holiday break. It was a pleasure to stay here !

Nestled in a small part( a couple of km wide & 11 km long!) of a huge island on the Mammoth Mekong river & overlooking the imposing Champasak Mountains is the La Follie Lodge! It's an experience just getting there but once you do.....ooohhhh! A welcome drink & a quick few minutes of a massage to help you recover from your exertions, are just perfect! The staff spoils you. And it was a pleasure to meet Sam, who became our guardian angel, suggesting activities & things suitable for Mom etc. The place is simply gorgeous! The views from our balcony are awe inspiring & the massages, the pool, the exotic dishes were just heavenly! On the day of our departure, they laid the breakfast an hour early vs normal for our early flight. And made changes in their route to drop us off at a place without stairs to climb for Mom!

To come to the Folie Lodge was a great great pleasure : we were very tied after our flight from Ventiane and our trip to Vat Pou and suddenly we came in paradise !! Everything was perfect : as a welcome, we hade a massage, our room was beautiful, the restaurant was very good and we could relax at the swimming pool. The next day we did a long bicycle tour around the island and in the afternoon, I had a yoga lesson on the beach ! Marvelous ! Notre séjour fut merveilleux, et nous avons regretté de n'y rester que 2 nuits ! Super accueil et gentillesse de tout le personnel.

Great hotel to unwind and get away from it all. The rooms are rustic so don’t expect 5* luxury but they are very comfortable with good a/c. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The restaurant and pool area are beautiful and the most amazing place to sit and watch the sun go down over the Mekong.

Se rafraichir dans une piscine en regardant défiler le courant calme du Mekong au soleil couchant est un spectacle inoubliable...Un moment suspendu sur une île au milieu du fleuve accessible uniquement en pirogue avec un petit massage de bienvenu : que demander de plus ?

Wir waren schon in tausenden von Hotels. Der Empfang im La Folie Lodge war der schönste, den wir je erlebt haben. Eine ganze Reihe von Mitarbeitenden sind zur Begrüssung da. Tücher für die Hände, einen Drink plus eine Massage von Nacken und Schultern. Die Mitarbeitenden sind sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Die Lodge hat eine ausgezeichnete Lage. Einfach schön und nochmals schön.
