Very nice stay here at the SpringHill. The hotel is going through some renovations but remains very quiet and spotless. The rooms are massive and comfortable. The desk and breakfast staff were very nice and professional. I highly recommend staying here as when coming through the area I definitely will be staying.

My experience was amazing. I stayed there for 3 days with my sick daughter (college student). as a Marriott Bonvoy member i have stayed at many Marriot properties. This property stands out due to the overly accommodating staff. The desk staff, housekeeping and manager were kind and understanding. I intend to make this my top choice for stays over the next 4 years. The room was large and clean and are being renovated at this time and it will be really nice when completed. Loved the 24 hr coffee and tea service in the lobby. Breakfast included was a bonus.

Stayed here for 3 nights with a sports team playing over at the college. The hotel is located right off 99 with easy access and plenty of parking. It is within a cluster of “Williamsburg Style” hotels by Marriott, Hilton, & IHG. I cannot comment on the breakfast as I do not join in hotel breakfasts. The exterior and lobby are very appealing. The downside is that the rooms do need to be updated. They are very typical old style Springhill. The good news is that they have started a renovation of the rooms on the 4th floor. Unfortunately, my room is on the end of the 1st floor and I can hear the work going on all day long as I hang out in my room (while the team is at the school). The continual hammering and pounding is quite annoying. My advice is to choose a different property within this same immediate area, and when traveling back this way after the renovation is complete, rest assured that it will be a great choice at that time!

Love everything about Springhill Suites. This particular hotel we've stayed at before, front desk is always welcoming and pleasant. Breakfast staff are on top of keeping up with the crowd. Pool was clean and well maintained. We will always put this hotel on our list while we travel.

Springhill Suites by Marriot State College did indeed credit our stay as they indicated in their response. And we are grateful for that. It is with that spirit of sincere gratitude, that I've been trying to delete the original post - since management has done what they could to make the problem right. I've not figured a way to do that, so am writing this follow-up review. Other than the noise, the THE STAY WAS ONDERFUL. As previously stated, the room was ready when we arrived. The room, amenities, and the hotel public areas were clean. The bed was very comfortable, one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in; and included two different firmness of pillows on each side of the bed to select whichever you prefer. The water warmed immediately, not having to wait for hot water to reach the spigot which has happened during visits to other hotels. Other than the noise, it really was a very nice hotel experience. The situation we experienced should never have escalated to the level it did, but that is history and can't be changed. I am only hopeful that they figure a way to address this issue with the same group of guests in future years.

The hotel ammenities were great. Room was ready, bed comfortable. Our problem was unruley guests that desk staff either refused to or were unable to handle appropriately. A group of (sounded like 4-8 couples having a great time, and being quite loud, with the door open. Noise started around 8:30 or 9:00, I wrongly convinced myself 'they'll quiet down at 10 or so' ... then said the same thing for 11:00 ... and again for midnight. They were like the ever-ready rabbit 'kept on going'. 12:15 we called the desk and the clerk kind of laughed ... "yeah, you're not the first call we've received". And added something to the effect of addressing it if they got one more call, then he would notify the manager .... 12:45 I had waited long enough ... called the national toll free reservation line. She asked me if I'd hold while she called the desk directly, which I did. After holding for 3 or 4 minutes, the noise stopped, the partiers said good night and the party broke up. A BIG THANK YOU TO THE NATIONAL RESERVATION CLERK. She then gave us 5,000 bonus points on our bonvoy account - which is apprecited, but we don't travel that often, and have no idea how to redeem them. When checking out the next morning and being asked how our stay was .... I told her (a different clerk than was on when we called). She basically said "yeah, that group (a youth hockey team in town for a tournament) come every year and it's always the same thing". I told her about the call to national, and the points ... but added the points are pretty meaningless to us and I felt we should receive at least a 50% discount since we only got 50% of the sleep we expected. We also did not have time for the complimentary breakfast (as we decided to sleep later than we had intended). We had driven for 5+ hours in rain and tire splash and were expecting to finish our trip in the same conditions for another 4 hours - a good night of rest was really anticipated, but not a reality. She said she would check with the manager about giving a credit for our stay. Bottom line: I RECOMMEND NOT BOOKING A STAY AT THIS HOTEL BETWEEN CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR'S, at least not before confirming that the youth hockey team from the Philadelphia area won't be there.

WATCH OUT FOR THE PARKING FEE - my reservation clearly said self parking included but they tried to charge me $3.50 for parking - they did take it off but I should not have had to complain...they said the City is requiring them to do it - this is not in a place here parking should be added and I have a very hard time believing that State College says they have to charge parking in their own lot - they have the attitude it's only $3.50 but x how many rooms times 356 days a year they just gave themselves a HUGE increase in revenue older rooms, cleaning is sketchy at best, dim lighting not the best place - big black spot on comforter too - mirrors are very dirty - if I can't stay elsewhere next time I will stay in Altoona even though it sucks it's probably a better option worth the drive - I have not seen a tv this small in many years and it's literally behind the desk
