Penbontbren Luxury Bed and Breakfast

We had a lovely stay at Penbontbren. The setting was very tranquil and calming. The accommodation was comfortable with all the necessary amenities. A great location for getting away from the noise and bustle of everyday life. Great for dogs. The hosts were very hospitable and friendly. Breakfasts were very good - particular favourites were the pancakes and maple syrup and the scrambled egg and salmon. A great stay - it felt like a retreat. Would recommend. The hospitality, peacefulness and quality of accommodation never change - always more than you could wish for. Breakfasts always worth getting up for. Surroundings so pleasant there is never any feeling of having to get out and do something! Thank you.

It is said that 'you should never go back' but we did return to Penbontbren and we weren't disappointed. The accommodation and setting is terrific and Kathryn & Richard's hospitality and friendliness are second to none. We hope to return again.

We first visited Penbontbren B & B in 2017 which proved to be an exceptional experience and so, after eight (long) years away, we were finally able to return in February 2025 in order to (hopefully) reiterate our previous perfect holiday. Since our previous stay, there has been a change of ownership yet the excellent impeccable presentation and sublime standards have stayed exactly the same, from the super spacious suites to the beautiful breakfast banquet of freshly prepared fabulous food, whilst the generous gorgeous gardens and grounds Have been enhanced with planting and the addition of a croquet lawn. We had the pleasure of staying at a beautiful 5-star retreat in Llandysul, hosted by the charming and welcoming Richard and Katheryn. Our visit was out of season, and we stayed in one of their recently renovated two-bedroom suites. It was the perfect getaway for myself, my partner, our 4-year-old son, and even our pooch, who was made just as welcome as we were! The accommodation was beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean, and surrounded by stunning, well-maintained gardens. Every detail had been thoughtfully considered, ensuring a truly relaxing and comfortable stay. Breakfast was a real highlight, with an excellent variety of choices. We enjoyed the hearty Welsh breakfast on some mornings and opted for the delicious haddock with poached eggs on others – both were fantastic! Although slightly off the beaten track, the retreat’s location guarantees a peaceful and tranquil break while still being close enough to the gorgeous beaches that make this area so popular. We were so impressed with our stay that we’ve already booked the stunning cottage for our summer family holidays. Many thanks again to Richard and Katheryn for making our stay so memorable – we can’t wait to return!

Good sized warm accommodation with lovely views over garden. Unfortunately recent storms had broken tv aerial so no television. We reported that bathroom radiator was hardly working and needed bleeding but chilly and damp in bathroom for whole of stay.
