We stayed at the Bellevue Hotel as part of American Express' Fine Hotels and Resorts (FHR) collection and as a World of Hyatt member. First the POSITIVE: The guest rooms are a little dated, but the hotel as a whole is gorgeous. The lobby and the solarium are beautiful. The location is the best, with the hop on hop off bus stopping right in front of the hotel. We have not taken the subway but there is one around the corner. The food from Pergola was delicious and the restaurant staff was excellent. We enjoyed the daily free breakfast(up to $75 ) and used the $100 credit for dinner. Now for the NEGATIVE: A few days before we came, I emailed Guest relations services. We are celebrating my wife's birthday during the stay and I wanted to know if a little surprise can be arranged. It's ok if nothing can be done, but what was very disappointing was that I never received any response. Thinking I did not have the right email, I went online to find another email address but still did not get any response. Although I did not make that an issue during check in, this is not a good customer service for a FINE HOTEL and World of Hyatt collection. Now checking in was an issue. We arrived around 3pm and check in was a breeze. We were given our room key cards and we went directly to the room. My wife used her key card at the door, it opened, and LO and BEHOLD! the door chain was on! There was actually somebody still in the room! The guy said they requested a late check out and they were supposed to be in the room until 4pm. I went back downstairs to verify the room mix up and while my wife was waiting outside the room, the guy's wife came and tried to use her key card, and hers had stopped working. The front desk had canceled their key cards and activated ours, without even checking the room and making sure it's been cleared and cleaned! Somebody came and moved us to a different room, but this is not a way to start a stay in a FINE HOTEL and World of Hyatt collection. The next morning, on the day of my wife's birthday, as we were going out, I passed by the front desk and verified their email address. The lady at the front desk verified that I had the right email and when I told her I never received a response to my email, she asked me what the email was about. I told her it was for my wife's birthday and she greeted my wife and told her " don't worry, I will take care of you" and wrote down our room number. When we got back in the afternoon, I can tell my wife was a little disappointed when there was nothing in the room from the front desk. Why even tell her and not do anything? Not a good look for a FINE HOTEL and World of Hyatt collection. The next morning, the same lady was at the front desk but nothing was said about the day before and we never brought it up. We really enjoyed our trip to Philadelphia, my wife had a memorable birthday celebration. The 4pm late check out gave us extra time to relax before the long journey home. The only disappointment was
