Marriott's Canyon Villas

We were really looking forward to our stay at Marriott’s Canyon Villas, but unfortunately, our experience fell well below expectations—especially for a resort of this caliber. Despite having booked two 2-bedroom villas nearly 10 months in advance, we arrived to find our villas placed in different buildings, which was incredibly frustrating considering this was a family trip and we had explicitly planned ahead to keep everyone close together. When I addressed this issue with the front desk, I was told there was nothing they could do because the rooms had already been pre-assigned. There was no effort to accommodate or even empathize, and we felt like our request was brushed aside. On top of that, one afternoon we had no hot water in our villa. It took half a day to restore service, and during that time there was little communication or urgency. It felt like we were inconveniencing them by expecting basic amenities to work properly. The manager I personally spoke with regarding our villa placement was not friendly, accommodating, or solution-oriented. It was clear that putting families first was not a priority. For a family resort, this was both surprising and disappointing. ⸻ 👎 Key Issues: • Reserved early but rooms were split up • Staff and manager were unhelpful and dismissive • Hot water outage took hours to fix • No sense of guest priority or care This could have been a great stay, but the lack of proactive service and inflexible attitude really soured the experience. We won’t be returning and cannot recommend this property to others traveling with large groups or expecting Marriott-level service.

Excellent accomodations. Helpful, cheerful staff. Beautiful environment. Close to many places to see, done & experience.

Not worth it- basically a Hampton Inn. No shuttle to the JW Marriott. We were told it was a short walk. Also told we could use the JW Marriott pools, but we couldn’t . It was blacked out for two of our 4 day stay. Wish we would have stayed home.

2 bedroom 2 bath villa lock off was fantastic! Everything was great and access to the JW Marriott Desert Ridge is a huge plus. 5 th year staying here every June. Service was great gym and cardio room worked out. Sand volleyball court in great shape. Grounds look nice and very close to shopping and entertainment.

Friendly staff, clean property

Located on the outskirts of Phoenix canyons and close to the JW Marriott across the road. The units have 3 levels, we were on the second floor, but as the units have carpets rather than tile floors you don’t hear any noise from above or below. The villas are large, we had a one bed which consisted of a bedroom and attached bathroom with a large tub and sink area, adjacent is a toilet , second sink and shower. The shower has shampoo, conditioner and gel and the sink has soap. The kitchen is well apportioned with all you might need for a holiday trip and to do some basic heating up or cooking of a meal. There are dryers and washing machines too. Washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets and washing powder are provided. The website shows the exact layout if needed so I won’t repeat it all here. Note there is zero housekeeping service which I think is poor. Not once did we have a bed made, towel change or bin emptied. Staying six nights I think this is not good. At our home resort we get daily housekeeping included. The outside of the units are a little utilitarian in appearance but all tidy and well kept. The pool area is good and has plenty of sunbeds to use at anytime of day. The towels are provided at the pool via a vending machine accessed by your room key. As well as a pool there are jacuzzi pools which well very warm. A pool bar is by the main pool which has the usual fare and also is open for breakfast Friday to Monday. There is a large amount of covered parking and some additional uncovered, we never had an issue getting a space somewhere. As always with Marriott every one of the staff members were great, helpful and polite and always happy to help. The marketplace at the resort is very small, so apart from some very basic items it is best to shop at the main shopping centre. The pool area and resort is clean and staff are always about tidying up and cleaning. Overall a lovely resort and a great place to visit the area of Phoenix, Scottsdale and the surrounding area.
