Property Description
We have owned this incredible property since 2017. We've now decided to share our "slice of Heaven" (as depicted by a visiting friend) by opening it up to you. Pictures have a difficult time explaining the true feeling of spending time on these decks! These views are unobstructed, all-season views – not just “winter views”. Our listing pictures are also taken from our decks – not from drones. Being here has been described by our visitors as amazing, awesome, inspirational - or many times, just simply "WOW!" The decks are expansive & mostly covered, so you can enjoy them even on the warmest of days. Perched high up & exposed, it is also common to have a cool mountain breeze even if it's calm down off the mountain. There are also open areas of deck if you prefer to be in the sun or want to do some nighttime stargazing. The house sits on ten acres of ridgeline (with no homes on the adjoining wooded lots) affording you plenty of privacy. Although part of Lake Logan can be seen from the rear deck, the primary awe comes from the all-encompassing mountain saturation. Looking southeast sweeping all the way around to the west, you have pure panoramic, undeveloped, mountain peacefulness. From the other side of the house, you’ll look north over the distant towns of Bethel and Canton - backdropped with layers of mountains well beyond. Inside the house is well appointed with oversized bedrooms & spacious, comfortable living areas. You'll find the kitchen to be fully stocked with everything you need for cooking & dining. A Weber gas grill is located on the side porch. The dining table spaciously seats six, with the kitchen island seating 3 more. The house also has the creature comforts of high-speed internet & four flat-screen, smart TV’s. Located on a ridge with multiple direction exposure, the property serves as a relay for a regional satellite internet service provider. Our internet is tapped directly off their main service which provides a fast & reliable connection. If you need to catch up on e-mails or work calls, the house offers a secluded office with a large desk. Along with a spectacular view, this room is also stocked with a printer, monitor, & office essentials (stapler, note pads, paper clips, tape, etc.). Also on the main level, there is a utility room/laundry with washer & dryer for your use. We invite you to make use of our other house amenities such as Eno hammocks (w/ mounting brackets on the porches), binoculars, corn hole, horseshoes, foosball, an array of board games, puzzles, and playing cards. Motorcyclists & convertible owners will appreciate the available two-bay garage (third bay is reserved for owner's use). If you have the need or desire, you are also welcome to utilize the workshop area with basic tools (please replace these tools after use). Many guests have trouble giving up the serenity of spending time on the deck's rocking chairs, but this location is also the perfect launchpad for all your outdoor activities. Our family has a multitude of hikes to tell about - both short & long. I am, personally, an avid mountain biker & I love to talk about my passion for the trails. If you'd like guidance on any of the area's trail systems including Canton's own Chestnut mountain & Berm Park (Thank you Seth Alvo!), I'm happy to be your information source. Aside from hiking & biking, there is nearby fishing, rafting, tubing, golfing, skiing, horseback riding, waterfalls, shopping, & frequent mountain-town festivals – all minutes away! Location wise, the house resides on Cold Mountain conveniently located 15-20 minutes from downtown Waynesville, Lake Junaluska, & Canton. It is also between Asheville's Biltmore Estate & Maggie Valley's Wheels Through Time museum - both just 30 minutes away. If scenic drives or motorcycle rides are your passion, the Blue Ridge Parkway intertwines with the ridges of the nearby Pisgah & Nantahala National Forest mountaintops. Due to the parkway wrapping halfway (literally) around your basecamp, there are three convenient access points all within a thirty-minute drive. After an active day out, you'll come home to enjoy the perfectly placed firepit for your star-gazing session. Whether you're looking for a relaxing getaway or an outdoor activity-driven vacation, both are waiting for you here! Access: The 1/4-mile-long driveway is paved but is steep with acute switchbacks. Common guest feedback recommends arriving, at least for the first time, in the daylight. In addition to the garage space, there are two large parking pads. For winter time bookings, be advised that any snow accumulation will render the driveway impassable - in which case we'll work with you to reschedule. For this reason, we discourage wintertime booking unless you have a flexible schedule. As far as pets, small dogs are welcome. We have a 25-pound & 2-dog limit. Security & disclosure: There are 2 security cameras monitoring the entry points (front door area & garage door area). Please note: In addition to this home being our rental property, it is our family's personal vacation home. We continually pour love into this property & ask that you treat it as your own while you respectfully enjoy it! There are no "events" allowed. A Wonderful Holiday We enjoyed the week of Thanksgiving at this property. It was appreciated that the host had some firewood there to get us started. Additionally, there was a Christmas tree up to help us get into the holiday spirit. Best part of the experience were the host and their willingness to help out, provide guidance and quick responses to questions leading up to our visit.

Mountain Views This was the perfect house for our stay with 6 adults and one child. We couldn’t have asked for better views or a better location for all we wanted to do and see. The owner went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable. Highly recommend!

Outstanding (March/April 2024) First of all the owners were extremely accommodating and gave plenty of information about the area and things to do. The house was clean and well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The location and the view were spectacular, pictures don’t do it justice. The view from the firepit was amazing and we spent many nights making smores and enjoying the view. The downstairs area was perfect for our teenage son. Overall, could not be more pleased with the location, accommodations, and the house in general. Perfect getaway for our family!

Outstanding Views!!! Look no further!!! The property description is accurate, million $$ views!!! Greg & Karin are perfect hosts. The communication leaves no question unanswered. Their home is stocked with everything needed & the pay it forward system allowed us to relax on our 1st night. The checkout system is also easy. If you are looking unobstructed views, privacy to recharge but minutes to town, this is the place!! Better than pictures can show…..

Incredible Views and Relaxation/Chill Porch Greg/Karin were amazing to work with. Always available. Easy check in/out process. The house was everything and MORE! Very comfortable. Great Kitchen with everything you would need. Saw deer in the backyard a few times. Very peaceful and tranquil once you arrived to the home. Will definitely stay again.

Amazing retreat with access to everything! Believe all of the comments that say the photos do not do it justice! It would be impossible to be disappointed by the views. This home is perfectly secluded, yet close enough to enjoy all of our favorite places from Asheville to Maggie Valley to the Blue Ridge Parkway and more. It fit our 3-generation family very well, is welcoming and comfortable, and very clean and tidy. The home has absolutely everything you need and more - we took advantage of the generous amenities (more than fully stocked kitchenware, games/books, hammocks, corn hole, foosball, fire pit...) and love that they encourage a pay-it-forward approach on staples. Even better, the hosts are wonderful and have amazing communication! We're telling all our friends and we will be back!

Great home with gorgeous views Pictures cannot fully describe the views from this house. They are amazing. We had 9 in our party, 6 adults and 3 kids, and it was very comfortable. It's also secluded so we didn't have to worry about the kids screaming and playing bothering anyone else. Everything that you would need is in this home. We did a lot of cooking while we were there and the kitchen had every pan, plate, bowl or appliance that we could possibly need. On our last night there, New Year's Eve, we were able to watch the fireworks from the town of Canton, down below in the valley. We have never seen fireworks from above before so this was a great little surprise. The owners are great to work with and are awesome people. I would highly recommend this home and hope to be able to go back in the future. This home is by far, the best that we have ever stayed in for our annual family vacation!!

Great place and amazing views! We had a wonderful stay here with my partner and I and my brother and his family and our mother for her 80th birthday. Everything was comfortable and clean, and the well-appointed kitchen was nice to cook in. I lived in Haywood County a couple of decades ago and it was really special to be able to look out over that familiar, beautiful landscape from the master bedroom and the living room. We really appreciated the privacy, the comfortable beds, the spaciousness and the extensive decking. We'll definitely return sometime!
