Albrighton Hall and Spa, a member of Radisson Individuals

I booked this hotel because I thought all Radisson hotels would be at least 4 stars and also to enjoy the pool and spa.  My room was in a musty outbuilding with very dirty, old carpets. Soap bottle empty in shower. Spa: no entry after 7 pm so I never even got to see it.  Nice garden with outdoor seating.

Arrived in this hotel around 8pm after nearly 4 hours of travel. I stayed in this hotel as it was on my companies preferred hotel to stay in. I ordered a bar meal and was advised if I wanted to swap my chips for a salad it would be an extra £4.50. I was so tired I couldn't be bothered. Once I had my meal I then proceeded to empty my car and go to my room. The room was dirty, the fridge did not work and there was only 1 bulb in the bathroom that worked. Lucky for me it was Summer time! The shower container was completely empty. The water taps both hot and cold are intermittent. I was woken up at around 5am by a banging noise in the next building. When I attended breakfast I relied my complaint to a man on reception. He didn't even ask me what room I was in and was totally disengaged. I ordered poached eggs and they arrived with all scum on them. Concentrate orange juice and the bacon and sausages tasted quite bland. I then went to work. On arrival back at the hotel I asked the female receptionist if the fridge been sorted out. She replied she wasn't aware of it and that maintenance had gone for the evening. Needless to say the fridge hadn't been repaired or replaced, although she did offer to move me. I couldn't see the point as I only had one more night of hellish in this hotel. Again the following morning I ordered poached egg and again it appeared with scum on there. Ten out of ten for consistency in the food prep. All in all I would never stay in this hotel. In my opinion its overpriced and over rated for the rooms and the food. I have logged a complaint to the hotel and also to the purchasing department of the company I work for. I would never stay in this hotel again. Dreadful place!

Following the most recent of several stays here over the years let's start with the positives. The location is ideal for a trip to Shrewsbury and north Shropshire. The building is lovely, if in need of a little TLC, internal cleanliness was good and the staff, especially reception, were excellent. Accepting that we were a little jaded having arrived and been told that we had no booking despite having written confirmation, (and the hotel was full), we were found space in a small inferior room with no view and 24/7 extractor fan accompaniment. However, this was recognised when we left and we were satisfied with the reductions/discounts offered. The bar meals were good and the breakfast had the capacity to be excellent except for the frequently mentioned inability to provide hot plates resulting in rapidly cooling food. Will we go again, maybe.
