To say I’m disappointed with my recent stay at Elba Premium Suites is an understatement. I stayed here in August last year and had a fantastic holiday with absolutely no complaints. I even paid extra for the Prestige Package this time, so it saddens me to write this review. Unfortunately, from the first night things went downhill. I had to share my room with multiple cockroaches. When I reported this to reception, I was told it was “quite normal” due to the warm weather. I asked why the rooms weren’t fumigated and requested to speak with a manager, only to be told none were available. They said they’d see what they could do. The next afternoon, after returning from the pool, I discovered housekeeping had cleaned the room but taken all the towels without replacing them. When I phoned reception to request towels, I was told I could come collect them myself if I wanted any. I was then offered a room change due to the cockroach issue, which I accepted. However, the new room wasn’t much better—there were no drinks in the fridge and I couldn’t use the safe as it required a new code. I had to go back to reception again to sort it out. Still no apology. The hairdryer didn’t work, and I heard several other guests complain about the same. I’d recommend bringing your own. Housekeeping seemed either overstretched or uninterested—they didn’t empty the bins, and on the second-to-last day, they didn’t clean the cups or leave milk or creamer for tea and coffee. On a more positive note, the bar and restaurant staff were fantastic—friendly, attentive, and helpful. Special mention to Chus at the pool bar who always had a smile, was incredibly helpful, and made everyone feel welcome. The spa was also lovely—clean, well-maintained, and the massage I had with Jesús was excellent. The food itself was good, though it was disappointing to see that some of the plates and bowls laid out at service still had old food on them. Strangely, after being told cockroaches were “normal,” I didn’t see a single one in the new room. It makes me wonder what went wrong this time. Whether it’s a change in management or just bad luck, the experience didn’t live up to last year’s standards—and I left feeling let down.
