Elba Premium Suites - Adults Only

Just returned from a week’s stay at the Elba Premium Suites. We were welcomed by Kendra, who was really fantastic, not just at check-in, but throughout our stay, she epitomises customer service. This was our 3rd stay and we had a Prestige Junior Suite (744), which allows you to a free daily pass to the spa, as well as drinks refreshed in your fridge. The hotel is absolutely spotless and the reason we book it is because of the adults-only restaurant and bar, with Danny at the helm. We had a problem with our shower early on and with the help of Macek we got it sorted. All-in-all another lovely stay.

To say I’m disappointed with my recent stay at Elba Premium Suites is an understatement. I stayed here in August last year and had a fantastic holiday with absolutely no complaints. I even paid extra for the Prestige Package this time, so it saddens me to write this review. Unfortunately, from the first night things went downhill. I had to share my room with multiple cockroaches. When I reported this to reception, I was told it was “quite normal” due to the warm weather. I asked why the rooms weren’t fumigated and requested to speak with a manager, only to be told none were available. They said they’d see what they could do. The next afternoon, after returning from the pool, I discovered housekeeping had cleaned the room but taken all the towels without replacing them. When I phoned reception to request towels, I was told I could come collect them myself if I wanted any. I was then offered a room change due to the cockroach issue, which I accepted. However, the new room wasn’t much better—there were no drinks in the fridge and I couldn’t use the safe as it required a new code. I had to go back to reception again to sort it out. Still no apology. The hairdryer didn’t work, and I heard several other guests complain about the same. I’d recommend bringing your own. Housekeeping seemed either overstretched or uninterested—they didn’t empty the bins, and on the second-to-last day, they didn’t clean the cups or leave milk or creamer for tea and coffee. On a more positive note, the bar and restaurant staff were fantastic—friendly, attentive, and helpful. Special mention to Chus at the pool bar who always had a smile, was incredibly helpful, and made everyone feel welcome. The spa was also lovely—clean, well-maintained, and the massage I had with Jesús was excellent. The food itself was good, though it was disappointing to see that some of the plates and bowls laid out at service still had old food on them. Strangely, after being told cockroaches were “normal,” I didn’t see a single one in the new room. It makes me wonder what went wrong this time. Whether it’s a change in management or just bad luck, the experience didn’t live up to last year’s standards—and I left feeling let down.

Me and my wife stayed here for 1 night in the adults only section and we really enjoyed our stay we arrived around 1pm and went for a lunch and drinks round the pool before checking in fully at 3pm while waiting to check in we were able to access the all inclusive option we booked. The suite we booked was lovely quite modern but comfortable. The suite had a mini bar and a decent coffee machine as well as little extra like a shaving kit, toothpaste and brush and slippers. The all inclusive option was good you could access all the bars in all areas but had the option of being in adult only sections. We would definitely return.

A wonderfully peaceful place especially if you upgrade to the adults only areas. We preferred the main pool as the adults only pool area was too small really for the volume of that area, and that was even out of season. The main pool was more spacious but in the middle of summer I think it may become quite noisy simply due to volume of people. The main pool is quite chilly, be warned, it felt like it was only us swimming at times but as the saying goes “once you’re in, it’s actually all right!” And it was! Huge pool, beautiful layout and plenty of sun beds for all. Lots of people have complained about not getting to eat in the a la carte restaurants when they have wanted too and we were able to only do this by emailing a week in advance. And I can highly recommend doing that as the brasserie especially was fabulous. It’s just a shame it’s only available at the weekends. The Italian was also rather good too. But the buffets restaurants, both the main one and the adults only one, excellent choice. Really varied, food was hot. High quality. Lots of different dishes to try. The usual beige and chips were available too but plenty of variety to keep everyone happy. The dessert area though should be monitored in the family restaurant to stop children handling the food and putting things back. But then again the guardians of the children shouldn’t be allowing that either. It’s needless to say we didn’t go hungry. The bar staff and entertainment upstairs was very enjoyable. All the staff work so very hard to make sure the site is spotless and super tidy. Yes at times more staff could be needed, lunchtime mainly, but you’re on holiday, not on everything has to be rushed. Overall this was a fabulous holiday, with lots of fun and enjoyment. Excellent food and drinks. Happy attentive staff. Oh, the beds, super comfy, I just wished they weren’t two single beds pushed together, something could be done to remove the gaps, although some people might like that. Would love to come back again!

Visit four to the adults only premium suites. As good as ever. Good staff throughout, clean and I thought the food had gone up a notch too, not that I could have complained before. For those who have not booked before, a few tips even if some are a bit obvious. Book direct with the hotel for the best price - response always quick; taxi was 55 euro's from the airport and 50 back without pre-booking. Typical wait time these days is around 20-30 minutes at the airport but don't be put off, the queue does move. About two minutes at the hotel for a taxi back or indeed to anywhere; hotel is well situated but not on the beach front. Turn right at the hotel exit and first right again and you are ten minutes away from the main town with great bars, restaurants and shops. Coming back is uphill - not steep - but with the wind in your face it's not a journey by foot for those with mobility issues; taxi's in town can be a challenge - sometimes plenty, other times you might wait 20 minutes; bus cheap to all destinations - if you are going for more than a week and fancy a change, Arrecife coastal area is up and coming, about 3 euro's e/w and a 50 minute journey; it's worth considering taking the ferry from Playa Blanca to Fuerteventura. Two companies do the route. It takes about 35 minutes, costs around 45 euro's PP and only about 20 minutes from the hotel; Back to the hotel premium suites - Villa's are big, quiet, have their own sunbeds, set in plenty of greenery. Fresh water daily, tea and coffee with kettle, bath robes and slippers, plenty of hanging space; the adults only pool and area is big enough with a bar and snack bar. Adults only dining area is set apart from the main hotel so noise free of kids with a smart bar and usually an evening singer or two. I have visited Playa Blanca every 15 months or so for the last 12 years and I went this time thinking I might have a change of hotel next time just for a change but of course when I got there I was just reminded that I really, really like this place and will come back
