The Amethyst Beach Motel

This is without doubt the worst accommodation I have ever stayed in. The place was rundown and the staff were non-attentive. The walkways were all worn out rubber The room smelt stale. The carpet was so dirty our socks picked up hairs and filth and had to be thrown away before we left. The bed smelt of stale sweat and the pillows were disgusting We did not sleep in the bed, but on it fully dressed. The toilet didn’t work properly. there were stains all over the carpet ceiling and the walls. The windows were not clean the curtains were stained. The level of lighting was completely inadequate. The bathroom was antiquated but there was hot water so we could at least feel clean when we left in the morning. They should’ve paid me to stay there. It is worse than a penitentiary. This is without doubt a shabby rundown Bates motel If you stay there, you need your head examined.

I’m giving it 2 stars because of the location. It is very close to the boardwalk, train station and stores down Arnold Ave. Other than that, the motel is very outdated and dirty. The dressers were half broken, there was mold next to the tiny fridge, the vent for the kitchen stove was disgusting. Mind you, the fridge was so tiny it could not fit anything! The beds are very squeaky and the worst was on our last day, it was pouring rain and the ceiling start leaking! We had to put a bucket underneath from getting the bed soaked. Terrible motel I ever stayed at and will definitely not come back.

Came to point pleasant for the day to enjoy the beach. Booked this motel online after reading some reviews, both good and bad, and decided to give it a try. The bad reviews don’t paint an accurate picture if just how horribly maintained this motel is. The woman on the phone prior to our arrival was very pleasant and even “upgraded” our room at no additional cost. Well I’d hate to see what we would have gotten if she didn’t. The stairs and the walkway are scary to say the least and the rubber on the floor is buckled making it even harder to navigate while carrying your belongings to your room. The room was a decent size and “clean” but so outdated and unkempt that the light fixtures were hanging off. You have a small fridge and microwave in what I believe would be a closet. You definitely want to stop before your arrival and grab some water or drinks because they don’t offer you any and can’t give you change for the machine on the side of the establishment (which didn’t take dollars anyway). Didn’t use the pool but I would say it’s the only thing the maintain. It was clean from what I could see. They charged an up charge for parking, 25$, a 40$ “misc fee” plus a 15$ “resort” fee bringing my total for one night in this dump to 300$. I could have stayed in a 4 star hotel for a night for that much! How do they justify their fees?? I know this is a family owned business and I understand times are tough. But you owe it to yourselves as business owners and to the people choosing your services to put some of that ridiculous fees to upgrading your motel. Just truly a disappointment!

We stood at the Amethyst Motel from 9/2/23-9/4/23. It was a great Labor Day weekend. I travelled with my elderly mom and Theresa was great to upgrade our room to a 2 bedroom apartment which was great. The rooms are clean and the pool area was very nice for children and adults alike. They offered a continental breakfast and the staff are very professional. This place serves its purpose well. It is within walking distance to Jenkinson's Boardwalk and other restaurants near the NJ Transit Station. I will definitely recommend this motel to anyone who has family and wants everything nearby. If you are looking for something high end then you would have to go to a Marriott. But if you want a nice, clean hospitable place where you can sleep comfortably, then Amethyst Motel is the one for you. I highly recommend it if you have children or elderly family members. We needed a place to stay last minute and luckily they had a room. Great location for us. Walk to and from Boardwark/Attractions. On street parking was available and was free. Room was nice and clean. If all you need is a bed,shower and TV, this is great place. There is a pool but we were there for the beach. Coffee and muffins in the morning was simple and nice. Clean and convenient not frilly. Would come back here.

Dirty. Disgusting. Musty. Out dated. I couldn’t tell if the linens were used and not changed from the previous guests or just old and worn from all of the stains on them - everything from the sheets and towels to the drapes. The carpet was damp and smelled. Even in our “newly renovated bathroom” (according to the website), there were unidentified stains on the walls, cracked fixtures, and a broken bath faucet and shower head that barely let out any water. I could keep going but will keep in brief. In hindsight, I should have taken pictures for this review. Had I not needed a place to stay for an event, I would have canceled the trip at first sight for another time and booked elsewhere far in advance. Needless to say, it is way over priced for a filthy, rundown establishment.
