Unreal few days at Kariega River Lodge We spent three nights at Kariega River Lodge this March and honestly, it was one of the most memorable experiences we’ve ever had. From start to finish, everything was just top class. The lodge itself is gorgeous — really comfy, spotlessly clean, and set in such a peaceful, scenic spot. It’s the kind of place where you instantly feel relaxed. The game drives were incredible — we saw lions, rhinos, buffalo, loads of antelope, and the absolute highlight was watching a group of elephants splashing around in the watering hole. Our guide Forest was brilliant — full of knowledge, fun, and made every drive feel special. The early weren’t as bad as expected. The food was really tasty — nothing overly fancy, but just good, hearty meals that hit the spot after a long day out in the bush. We also managed to sneak in a bit of pampering at the spa — I had a facial and a massage, both were absolutely lovely and well worth doing if you get the chance. The staff were all so friendly and helpful, and you could tell everyone there genuinely loves what they do. It made the whole stay feel really personal and warm. We’d go back in a heartbeat and would 100% recommend it to friends or anyone thinking of doing a safari.

If you’re looking for an unforgettable, culture rich, indulgent escape to the eastern cape then the Kariega Riverside Lodge is the place for you. This breathtaking game reserve reminds you of how beautiful this world is whilst providing a luxuriously enriching and heartwarming stay. The team that work at Riverside really have a love for what they do, this is shone throughout with every welcome with morning coffee, greeting with a hot towel & drink when you hop off your safari, to the poolside service with a smile & evening wine & dine. The whole place, given is in the wild, is kept immaculate with everything you’ll need to enjoy your stay very easily accessible. Our room at riverside was a lavish thatched roofed lodge which provided the perfect place for peace & tranquility with a view of the bushman’s river. My husband had arranged with Nadine a wonderful surprise of sparkling wine & petals decorating the room for my birthday which I celebrated during our stay. Forrest was our fantastically insightful ranger, he was with us during our whole stay and really made the Safari as magical as it was with his excellent knowledge of the park and its residents. Forrest managed to take us to see the Big 5 and then some, he even took us out on a boat trip to the beach for some time in the sun. We’re extremely grateful for our ranger and the efforts he made to show us as much as we could during our stay & his patients, in fact charm when answering all of our questions. The meals served in the riverside lodge are just delectable. Having a food allergy I often feel left out with limited options however the chef here catered to my requirements and offered the same incredible menu with the adjustments I needed, this was extremely appreciated. What made the dining experience even more memorable was the whole team coming out to sing me happy birthday whilst chef served me my own dairy free cake (and a normal one for the rest of the guests to enjoy) this really made my day a birthday to remember. If you have time I’d recommend getting booked in to the spa. Tulisa was wonderful, very professional & really helped me unwind after a morning of bouncing around on those bumpy Safari routes. Overall our time here at Kariega Riverside Lodge MADE our honeymoon, we would highly recommend this to anyone looking to stay for a wonderful safari experience in the eastern cape

From our welcome through to our departure, we were treated individually and fully catered for. The rooms, dining areas and rest areas are exactly as depicted in the photos and were of a really good standard. Our guide/driver, Forrest, was superb, readily answering questions he must have been asked thousands of times with enthusiasm and nothing was too much trouble. The opportunity to get the vehicle close to many of the wildlife was unexpected and superb. A truly memorable 3 nights in the reserve which has conservation at its heart.

This place is amazing. All the staff go above & beyond to make your stay superb. We stayed in suite 6 which overlooked the watering hole so got to see lots of animals there everyday. Not forgetting Leigh our guide on the safari drives, he was amazing & the amount of knowledge he has for someone so young was unbelievable.

Super riverside lodge, stayed in a lovely suite with animals (impala, wart hogs) right outside the French windows. Excellent, helpful, very attentive staff. Forest, our guide, was knowledgeable, friendly and found all the right spots for us to see Elephant, Rhino (black and white), hippo, giraffe, Cape buffalo and Lions. Also had an excellent boat trip to the beach at beautiful Kenton on Sea - despite the windy day! Mimosas on the beach, Amarula coffee early doors and civilised G and T out on our tours. Good food and wine - AMAZING animals and countryside - overall a 5* experience.
