Kariega Game Reserve Main Lodge

Amazing place. Stayed at Main Lodge Bungalow was very comfortable and spacious. Good was all very good but it is the game drives that make this a special place. It is not overcrowded with people but so many animals. We were able to see lion, elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebra, rhino, hippos and more. Our ranger Wes was great, funny, informative and great fun. Would highly recommend.

We had the best time at Kariega Main Lodge. Our guide Hein was fantastic! The accommodation and food was all brilliant and the staff were all very attentive and friendly. We got so close to the animals and saw more than we were hoping to. We had a really amazing family holiday and had a truly unforgettable experience.

Everything about Kariega was beyond words. The cabin we stayed in was beautiful, super clean, and comfortable, to say nothing of the stunning views (where giraffes were actually visible in the distance). Our guide Matt was hysterical and friendly and made us feel very safe on two outstanding game drives where we saw wild lions, rhinos, and elephants. The service was excellent, the food was tasty, cozy fires were lit routinely, and the wine list was on point. Game Reserves are by no means the affordable option in SA, but if you can swing one, Kariega should be high on the list. Completely worth it, and we'll be back.

We had a holiday of a lifetime at Kareiga. Our guide, Jenna, was amazing - so knowledgeable, friendly, caring & great company! The food was lovely too & we made good use of the pool & gym. Staff were so helpful & they really took pride in their work.

What a magnificent experience. The location and variety of animals is just stunning. We really enjoyed the game drives - we had 3 fabulous ones with our Ranger, Matthews. The vehicle coped magnificently with tackling the bumpy terrain and we saw most of what we wanted to. Unfortunately, we missed the last game drive due to very wet weather so we did not get to see the hippos. That just gives us an excuse to go back. The catering arrangements work on a self-service basis, which is very well organised so you can eat as much or as little as you are inclined to. The chalet was wevy spacious and had all of the facilities we needed. The second night included a 'Boma' which is lovely. We were entertained by some very talented local children whose enthusiasm and sound was magnificent. Such a memorable stay. Thank you so much.

Great staff, great food, excllent game drives with knowledgable guides. Everything done to a high standard. Not overcrowded (with humans) - and excellent game viewing opportunities. Somewhat expensive, yes, but you get what you pay for.
