Our stay at Niramaya Villas far exceeding our expectation. The staff were friendly, polite and professional and were very helpful. The villa was beautifully decorated and appointed, much larger than we anticipated and had everything we needed to make our stay very enjoyable, relaxing and peaceful. The plunge pool was incredible - the perfect temperature and also very private. We loved the birdlife, the surrounding grounds and the sunsets. We didn't want to leave. We highly recommend Niramaya and will definitely be returning.

Our stay at Niramaya Villas was amazing. Our family of four adults all went ‘WOW!’ when we arrived. Our villa was perfect for our family getaway to celebrate a special occasion - beautiful spaces to gather as a family, or to spread out and relax in your own private area. We loved our plunge pool! The staff were helpful and friendly, the tropical gardens were stunning, and the villa extremely well equipped. We enjoyed the tennis court, gym, resort pool and Santi restaurant (dining and hamper delivery). The special treats on arrival were a delightful surprise. We can’t wait to return!

We are a family of four from the US who usually travels to luxury resorts. When viewing our options for Port Douglas we found most options were mid-range. We chose Niramaya because it is beautifully landscaped, seemed quiet, and had great reviews. We knew going in that this was more of an condo/airbnb type accommodation than a hotel. We were fine with limited front desk hours and no housekeeping for our stay terms. Here is what we found: What we liked: Landscaping is beautiful and bugs weren’t as bad as I expected. Our small pool was heated The air conditioning worked well The shower in the master bedroom had good water pressure and plenty of hot water The staff was friendly and the dinner at the main restaurant was good Family room was very comfortable and spacious What we did not like: The second and third bedrooms are separate from the master bedroom and separate from the family room/kitchen. We knew this….but is was more of an inconvenience than we suspected The bathroom that sits between and second and third bedroom is outside…meaning you need to exit the air conditioned bedrooms, go outside, then enter the bathroom. The second bathroom did not have air conditioning. There were no controls, vents, and it was HOT in the bathroom. The bedroom with 2 single beds had a horrible odor, a smell that went beyond musty….it smelled bad and musty. Our daughters shared a queen sized bed instead of using that room. There were no dressers in the bedrooms…the master bedroom had 2 tiny side tables with lamps. All of the bedroom furniture, bathroom fixtures were cheap. The sheets felt like sandpaper. Bottom line: the housing seems adorable from the outside….but the accommodation was rustic….in a cheap sort of way. There could have been better quality sheets, there could have been better quality furniture, they could have air conditioning in the bathroom…..it was a choice. I can see why some people like this place….while we were there one villa was hosting a wedding, another villa had multiple families spending holiday together. The resort is very affordable if you are filling the rooms and using the hotel resources. It is probably a resort many Australians would enjoy. We enjoyed our time in Port Douglas…but we did not enjoy Niramaya. After incredible day trips we dreaded sleeping in our beds. This just wasn’t the right fit.

Another amazing stay at Niramaya. We were four adults and the villa was perfect for us all allowing us privacy and peace in the large layout. The plunge pool is fantastic and way bigger than most villas - you can actually spend a decent amount of time in it. If you want a place to stay where you feel right at home and have all the creature comforts (and more) of your own place, this is definitely the best choice in Port Douglas. We will be back again soon.

If you want a place to relax and unwind, we could not recommend these villas any more highly. The staff could not of been any more helpful, and the property was incredibly clean

I cannot fault the outside of this resort! Amazing! Main pool, etc.... Staff incredible and very accommodating A+++ service! We stayed here based on the amazing reviews we read. I'm sure some villas are lovely,: HOWEVER... we must have had a crap villa (villa 14) - the couch was shocking, the cushions were all out of shape and you felt like you were sliding off them when sitting on it, needs upgrading big time! OMG and bad ant problem!! Need to put better ant bait down (I know it's hard as outside has lush gardens). You need to keep all food off surfaces otherwise ants galore! Beds were not comfortable at all, def in need of an upgrade to nicer style beds (especially when you pay for luxury pricing). We paid $4500 NZ for 7 nights, felt it was really not worth that at all. We had electrical issues as well, however the staff did fix. Also the onsite restaurant closes at 7pm!! and the main pool at 7pm as well, way to early in my option, some people like to eat later and if you want to eat at say 6.30pm you literally have 30ins to eat a meal! Port Douglas was very busy, so we would have liked to eat more at the onsite restaurant but couldn't because of the closing time. Also the main reception closed at 6pm.... really really early if you need to see them about stuff (if you getting back from doing the stuff in the day, they are then unavailable when you get back from doing stuff in the day) Was a shame that our experience was not good as it really does spoil the holiday. Hate to say but we were looking forward to leaving at the end of our stay :( ... Would not stay here again based on our experience. :(
