The Waterfront

Found various minor problems with one of the rooms we booked. Although they were minor;- toilet flush button missing, main light not working & difficulty opening one of the doors to the property , I was surprised that these defects were not noticed when room was prepared for occupancy. We didn’t report the faults until morning after arrival as we were out until quite late & they were not noticed when we checked in. Even so, the light (bulb?) was not rectified by the time we left on the third morning. Service for food & drinks was slow & I am of the opinion that this was due to the lack of staff. The woman who checked us in at reception was later serving at the bar, carrying meals to outdoor tables & clearing up tables. It was quite late when she eventually finished her shift & commented she was exhausted & glad to be finished. Next morning she was there in the dining room taking orders & serving tables with a smile & a friendly word. 10/10 for service All this said,we will not return for another visit to the Waterfront as we think it is getting a bit worn out looking, lacking some attention to detail.

Called in for evening meal. Lovely seafront establishment. Great view over the port. Friendly helpful staff. Good choice on menu. Highlander burger with haggis was very nice. Steak pie and mash equally as nice. Good selection of drinks

Yes the bedroom was small, but don’t let that put you off. I made a minor hiccup which meant we had to stay in the Portpatrick hotel. The waterfront was excellent compared to our 1 night stay there. Reasons for this 1. The staff, they couldn’t do enough for us from the minute we realised my mistake. They were friendly and helpful, going above and beyond what they needed to 2. Breakfast was cooked to order and was amazing especially the haggis. You can even build your own breakfast and increase the size. Was one of the best breakfast I’ve ever had 3. Clean and excellent location This hotel definitely rates 5 stars

Staff friendly and very attentive. Room clean and view over the harbour was brilliant. Breakfast excellent. We were lucky enough to park across from the hotel. Shower a bit small and pressure not that good but did the purpose.

Hotel was in beautiful town and right on the sea in the harbour, very nice rooms recently renovated. Breakfast was delicious. Staff were friendly and accommodating.

I had booked a classic room with king sized bed, pictures looked good. Arrived to find we weren’t even staying in the hotel but a cottage offering the smallest rooms I’ve ever stayed in with a shower and toilet in a cupboard. Place needed a really good clean, double bed was two singles pushed together, one had a wonky spring. Communal area in need of a good clean too.
