Shard Riverside

Avoid The Shard if at all possible! A tent in a field would have been much more appealing or even one of the many questionable hotels in Blackpool!!! We were greeted by a chap who rambled off their policies and gave us our room keys. Our room was in need of some tlc, especially the bathroom, not what we expected paying £130 for a luxury room!!! The bed was so uncomfortable, it was like a torture rack, hence we did not have a very good night's sleep! We had eaten at lunch time when we arrived and must say the food was quite good. However, when we returned after my Husband had taken part in 'Run the Lights' in Blackpool, we were looking forward to a few drinks in the bar. How wrong we were! My brother-in-law got a beer that was off and he was told because it was because it was a hoppy beer, it looked cloudy and would have a different taste! It was off or they had not cleaned the line properly! The two quite unfriendly chaps did change it to something else for him. We only managed to have one drink, when we were asked by the aforementioned chaps if we were residents. We said yes and we're promptly asked to leave!!! Eleven o'clock in the evening, never in any of the places we have stayed in have we been asked/ told that!!! Unbelievable really! You have been warned, avoid, avoid if at all possible!!!

Booked online directly in June with agreed price of £90 for 1 night for myself, my wife and baby, we enquired further due to having our baby and were told, the price would be as advertised and have messages saying so. On the morning of our stay, we recieved a call from the manager, stating our stay would now be costing us an additional £50. With our stay being for a wedding we had no option to head to the hotel anyway. Upon arriving at the hotel we asked for said manager who wasn’t there, so it was agreed we would pay on departure when the manager was available. The morning of our departure we approached the manager, a man sat at the desk in gym gear and a cap, only to be repeatedly told our stay would now be £140 because the “social media girl doesn’t know anything” even with proof of our quoted price the £140 was repeated. Even this being the case, training of staff and quoted prices are not our problem as guests. We had no option but to pay the increased price, due to our card details being on record from the booking, essentially the hotel could have taken what they like. The room whilst comfortable and clean was not a £140 room, we had an evening meal and breakfast in the restaurant, both of which were lovely with great service and friendly staff however a stay should be avoided at all costs, very much left feeling scammed.

Don’t bother Overpriced and run down room.

Rooms are comfy and very clean with a lovely view over the river. Used this hotel to stay in after a wedding at the river barn. Would highly recommend as it’s only a 2 minute drive! Breakfast the next morning was lovely and very fast service. Staff were all very friendly!

The staff were very nice and helpful. Room and bathroom could do with a redecoration as it was quite run down. Lovely breakfast but I think the cost of the room was a little pricey for what it was.
