This is a very friendly place to stay, very clean and well equipped, right in the centre of Princetown. It is simple but provides what you need. They have a spa which is quite unusual for Dartmoor. Princetown itself is not pretty, but the views of the prison are fascinating. I stayed here to walk the old railway track down to Burrator and Yelverton, which was fantastic, a great way to see Dartmoor up close.

Went to stay for my partners birthday. We had a lovely time. The hot tub was so nice to relax in after a long week and a bonus towards our evening plans. Nikki and Terry were fantastic hosts and made sure every need was catered for before we even knew it. Can't wait to stay again to make use of the bbq and more of the outside area. We cannot wait to stay again. Thankyou for everything!

Great place to stay, lovely location and everything I needed in a self contained flat. Hot tub is the icing on the cake of course.

Nikki is a fantastically welcoming hostess. Large spacious room and very comfortable beds. Complementary coffee and teas were amazing, and nice to find shower gels etc provided also. It was a great surprise to find the hot tub, which was very welcome after our days hiking on the moors. We totally recommend the Railway Rest as a very comfortable and friendly place to stay. Steve and Nilla.

Great location in Dartmoor fabulous hot spa for rejuvenation. Great meal at the pub down the road. Room was okay but small but had everything we needed. Great hosts very friendly and helpful. lovely village location. Would stay again. Comfortable bed

Very friendly hosts. Plenty of local knowledge and made us feel very welcome. The little honesty shop is an excellent idea. The room itself was very well presented, (special mention for the great bathroom), and full of the necessary for our stay - and also plenty big enough for ourselves plus two travel crates for the lab and dachshund. We all slept extremely well and will definitely return. The drying room was useful even though we didn't use the hot tub!

This is the most welcoming and comfortable place to stay in Princetown. Our second stay here did not disappoint. The beds are so comfortable with top quality bedding and the bathroom lovely. We really appreciate the self-catering idea having a fridge, kettle, toaster, sink and crockery so we can make our own breakfast and packed lunch ready for a day out on the moor. Princetown is a fab base for walks on Dartmoor and after a day hiking the hot-tub is a welcome treat. Nikki was very accommodating letting us leave our car and belongings whilst we completed a trek along the Abbotts Way - highly recommended too. Stay here - you will feel looked after!
