Alua Tenerife

Hotel con servicio de todo incluido muy malo sin apenas cosas y muy mala calidad buffet escaso y muy repetitivo y la comida un drama sin sabor poca variedad y además tardaban en reponer para no gastar tanto además había cosas que ponían al abrir el buffet un plato cosas más a menos buenas que se agotaban y ya no volvían a poner en todo el servicio horrible todo no merece 4 estrellas y 3 estrellas ya sería una valoración muy alta

Spent 7 nights in Alua Tenerife with my husband and kids, all aged 16. Absolutely fantastic hotel. We were apprehensive after reading some awful reviews but really there was no need. The hotel staff were very welcoming from the moment we arrived, the hotel is really clean and has absolutely everything you need for your stay. Food was excellent, really wide range even for picky teenagers. Certainly there are more Spanish speaking guests than English and entertainment was more geared to this but at no stage did we feel that was an issue. We also used the hotel transfer to get us from/back to the airport, this was lots cheaper than our tour operator and worked a treat. We didn’t venture out of the resort much so can’t say anything about the area but hotel is perfect for quite a cost effective all inclusive week in Tenerife.

Nous avons passé un très agréable séjour dans cette hôtel. Le personnels est agréable et quelques uns parle quelques mots de français. L'équipe d'animation et manon de lookea sont très sympa . Et un grand merci aux femmes de ménage car tout les jours nous avons eu une chambre propre , et agréable . La nourriture sa allait et était variés , il y en avait pour tout les goûts ( après c'est pas de la grande cuisine mais pour 1 hôtel de cette grandeur, il faut pas s'attendre à du luxe ) . Les transats et parasol à la piscine c'est vraiment super ( bémol dans le règlement il est interdit de réserver les transats mais comme partout des 9h30 plus de transats disponibles auprès de la grande piscine car les gens les réserve en mettant leurs serviettes pour la journée). Hotel proche de la ville , des magasins , de la plage c'est agréable.

El desayuno y la cena muy bien, pero el almuerzo escaso, las habitaciones amplias cómodas y limpias, la piscina es pequeña para el hotel y tiene el suelo resbaladizo. El personal de recepción muy servicial, en particular, David El guanche fue muy agradable y nos indicó muchos lugares para visitar en la isla. El personal del buffet no es demasiado agradable, sobre todo con el turista nacional .

Just returned home from a week all inclusive at the Alua Tenerife. It was OK. And that’s about all. The hotel entrance was pretty and always clean, the rooms were spacious and fit a family of 3 comfortably. Cleaned every day and the front staff friendly and helpful when asked questions. The food was standard all inclusive, something for everyone each day. We always found something to eat and my little one enjoyed the freshly baked pancakes for breakfast each morning. Restaurant clean and spacious, staff friendly and always helpful. Overall cannot fault the food or front of house staff. It’s about a 10 minute walk to the zoo which was amazing and about 20 minutes into the town square which was very pretty and we enjoyed a few days and nights down by the busy square. You can get the free train back to the zoo which we did a few times. However what lets this hotel down is the discrimination towards English guests. The animation team will actively ignore anyone who is not French. You can only use the kids club if you’re French, all activities are only for French guests and we were told a number of times we could not join into activities because we were not French. I don’t want a Brit abroad holiday and enjoy exploring cultures and can speck enough French to get by, but this was next level!! The day and evening entertainment are aimed only at the French guests and while we don’t routinely join into the activities it would have been nice to have the opportunity as my little one wanted to try new activities but was told no several times. Try explaining that to a 5 year old!!! If you are there for Jungle Party day good luck, it’s like a bad 18-30 booze cruise, with shouting and screaming ALL day long (from 10am until 11pm) around the pool, poor DJing and shouting in a speaker all day long!! The day ended by fireworks off the roof top at 11pm ( genuinely thought it was gunfire) we had not been warned about this so this woke our 5 year old up!! Definitely would not be back to this hotel, which is a shame as it’s a pretty hotel in a nice location but it’s let down by the feeling of discrimination from the animation team.

I will start off with the positives of this hotel: 1. Reception staff, most notably David, were welcoming and helpful when needed. They are one of the best things about this hotel. 2. Rooms are spacious, modern and well-maintained by cleaning staff daily, 3. Pool is decent and there are enough sunbeds around the hotel. 4. The Vertigo rooftop bar is a wonderful feature of the hotel and they served a fantastic range of drinks. Not sure children should be allowed up there late on in the evening though, particularly since it is an area of relaxation. Unfortunately, these are somewhat overshadowed by the following issues: 1. This hotel is VERY French-dominated. The animation team, on occasions, downright ignored and did not acknowledge British guests. On our first day, we overheard another British guest complain that the animation team excluded their children from an activity and told it was “for French people only.” It should not have to take a complaint from a guest to prompt inclusivity and even then the same issue resumed after another couple of days. 2. The sunbeds are very close together and personal space is limited. It would also be ideal if there were tables next to the sunbeds for drinks, something we have seen at plenty of other hotels. 3. Breakfast was bang average at best. The hot food very quickly went cold and some things (e.g. pancakes were overcooked). There was plenty of choice but food was mostly bland and tasteless. There are certainly a few positive aspects to this hotel and if you are French/Spanish, I imagine it would be far more enjoyable to stay here. Most of the staff (except the animation team) are very pleasant and friendly. Luckily, as a Spanish speaker, I was able to communicate with the staff more easily but the majority of the staff have limited English. We will not be returning to Puerto De La Cruz and would strongly advise British couples/families to think twice about booking this hotel.
