Labranda El Dorado

We have been here almost a week. Central location and have got the best room, old , but spotless . Massive balcony. I requested a low floor which we got and we couldn’t have a better room. Leads straight down to the pool . Our only niggle is we have a day and a half left and have only got a sun bed once. They are all taken early ( same old story) but here they are reserved and people come back at 2-3 pm where other families have either had to sit in the bar or share beds. Tonight I’m reserving ours in the hope our towels don’t get moved so we can at least have one day at the pool. We have had to go to the beach which amazing .. Apart from that it’s lovely. If you have walking difficulties request a ground floor..

Mala olor en la habitación y lleno de cucarachas. Intentaron solucionarlo al quarto dia de la estancia, fumigaron la habitación con toda nuestra ropa y comida dentro. El dia antes de irnos del apartamento nos ofrecieron otra habitación de categoria muy inferior. Mala resolución por partes de la dirección y ninguna explicación. Presentaremos una queda formal a la comunidad de Canarias. El trato ha sido denigrante, nos echaron ha perder las vacaciones.

Last minute booking to the Labranda. It was our first stay here and my wife was just a wee bit concerned after reading some of the reviews. But we shouldn't have worried, we had a great stay and will definitely be back. The La Branda is in a great location near the main ***** of Puerto Del Carmen and the old town, very close to the bars restaurants and shops. . We had booked a one bedroom premium room which had fantastic views looking over the pool and the sea. The room was spotlessly clean, we had a large living room with a small kitchen area and a large TV which had all the relevant UK channels. The living room opened onto a large balcony fitted with a table and chairs. There are two pool areas but we stayed at the pool next to our room, the other pool had a bar and seating area, none of the pools were heated. There were plenty of sunbeds and you can get a sunbed at any time of the day. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the gardens were immaculate. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay but we have some comments that could easily be addressed or resolved. There were no dishes drying rack, chopping board or colander The microwave only operated as a grill, other residents said they had the same issue. The late check out charges were the most excessive I have seen; 40 euros until 2pm and 80 euros to 6pm ( we had a late flight ) There are no facilities to shower or wash after check out other than the pool toilets or pool showers. There is a luggage room but if you want a locker it is 2 euros to unlock it and 2 euros to open it again.

We stayed at Labranda for 1 week as a family of four. We have two young children and prior to arrival I asked on several occasions to have a ground floor apartment and for late check out as our flight home was late in the evening and this would be helpful for our children’s ages. We were given a ground floor apartment however with a number of steep steps from the Balcony at the back. I don’t feel we would of minded as much if it wasn’t for the fact that shortly after our arrival my husband helped 3 middle aged men to their room which was 3 round from ours, was ground floor and had no steps on the balcony. We did wonder the logic in this given hotels are aware of guests coming in prior to allocating rooms. We asked reception for the option to move as the morning following arrival my 2 year old nearly fell backwards down them despite being in our presence the entire time. We were told they could not discuss until management arrived on Monday. When we discussed this with the manager and said “do you feel this is safe for our young children?” He replied “yes” and my husband then asked “is this resort not family friendly?” To which he also said “yes”. We found the manager very rude and not friendly throughout the duration of the stay. Despite not moving, we made it work by ensuring we kept our children away from the balcony for the remainder of the stay. Furthermore, the rooms were average, beds were comfy, however, the floors were filthy throughout the duration of our stay despite asking for these to be cleaned and the maids coming in regularly. These were not mopped once and our feet were black. We asked numerous times in addition to prior to arriving for late check out and was told we needed to ask this on the day of check out, which I find bizarre in itself as hotels are aware in advance of guest capacity and allocation of rooms. On the day of check out we asked in the morning and was told we needed to of let them know in advance and this was not available. There was no changing facilities or side room for us to freshen up or have a shower after a full day of having no room before going home. I am thankful that we chose not to swim that day. The pool was tired, the lining on the sides of both the large and children’s pool were falling off and they were not heated. My children could only spend small amounts of time in the pool at once as they were so cold even with 29c heat. Despite the location of Labranda being central to both the old and new town which we love, I would strongly avoid staying here if you are a young family. We definitely will not be returning.

We have just had a week at these apartments, the weather was lovely of course its Lanzarote and our apartments was very basic but exceptionally clean which to most is a good thing, The pools were never chaotic and the pool bar very cheap, staff helpful and friendly overall a lovely and I must say cheap holiday.

First impressions: Reading some of the other reviews, you could be forgiven for being worried. My opinion is that some of the rooms are newer and some have yet to be updated. Our room, 318, is clean, functional and spacious, perfect for a family of four. The kitchen is basic but has everything we need. Bed linen is crisp and spotless. Great balcony with a pool and sea view. Located in a fairly hilly area, there are plenty of steps so I'd say you'd struggle with wheelchair access. Saying that, it is centrally located and there are ATM's and supermarkets everywhere. Perfect for self-catering. It's not the Ritz ... but you aren't paying for the Ritz! I'll update this review as the week progresses 👍
