R2 Bahia Kontiki

The room was excellent, beds very good size and comfortable. However the staff were a bit pushy towards the end of the stay. 3 staff attempting to come into the room before the check out was quite unpleasant. Other than that which I’m sure doesn’t happen to everyone the stay was excellent

I have just had the worst stay in a hotel ever at R2 Bahia Konitiki. When we arrived we were given our room, which was right at the very bottom of cardiac hill beside the *****. We asked the receptionist if there was a room closer to being up nearer the top of the hill but all we got was a rude and curt reply of we are busy, with no apologies. After my partner asked again, the receptionist then begrudgingly told us to check with them again in the morning and they might have a room free. The room we were given on the first night was right on the street - all of the other rooms are within a walled compound, this one is not. People coming home from the bars banged on our door. The door itself was very flimsy and the windows not very secure either so I was very concerned about being broke into. They finally offered us a room change a few days into the holiday, after my partner kept chasing them but again this was only a few rooms up from the one we already had and again close to the main *****, so the noise level would have been the exact same. Straight across from our room were bottle banks, were the bars would empty their used bottles into the tanks all night every night, up until 5am in the morning meaning I couldn’t sleep from the noise of the bottles being fired into them. On top of this, the noise from the bars live music and drunk people singing along on the ***** which we were essentially on top of, filled the room. The bin lorries would also pick up the rubbish at 6/7am. All of this noise meant we couldn’t sleep in our room, I spent my holiday on the couch in the room furthest away to try and get some sleep but even with ear plugs, I could still hear it clearly and loudly. When we were checking out we told the staff how horrible our stay was and the receptionist basically said it’s not their fault and was so rude I was actually stunned. Both of the receptionists I had encountered on this trip were beyond rude and extremely unhelpful. We stayed at this same hotel last year and loved it so much we rebooked with them, I am so disappointed with our holiday this year. I basically paid more money than last year to sleep on the couch. I’ve also come home extremely run down and sick due to the stress of it. I did not sleep more than 2 hours per night for the entire 6 nights. This is not good enough, you go on holiday to relax. When I complained to the hotel I felt like I wasn’t being listened to and instantly dismissed. It isn’t a cheap hotel so I did expect some level of decency and customer service from them but all I got was dismissed and rudeness, with no apologies. I contacted them about my stay and all I got was an automated response that said “We feel that the experience has not been to your liking, but we take note of your comments and will use it to help us to improve.” I fully understand that the hotel can be busy and not have other rooms available but if this is the case then this room should be at a much cheaper rate than the other r

The location of the apartments are perfect, there is a steep hill however we didn't mind. The apartment was spacious and clean. We had lunch a few times and the food was lovely. The pool opened at 10:00 however if you weren't at the pool before 08:30 you couldn't get a bed. People were reserving beds, not showing up until at least 12:30, staying a few hours then leaving their towels again. I spoke to the hotel and they advised to let the lifeguard know and he will remove the towels. I don't feel its up to hotel guests to monitor and the staff should be doing more.
