Botanika Osa Peninsula, Curio Collection by Hilton

Highly recommend this diamond in the rough, you are basically part of the rainforest. We have visited Peninsula Papagayo multiple times in CR, this was the first visiting the Osa Peninsula & Botanika Hotel...and so glad we did. The resort is well maintained, rooms are great. We had a two bedroom suite which makes it perfect for families. The room had multiple thermostats so you can have different temperatures by room. One of the bathrooms is accessible from the living room/kitchen and bedroom...so you do not have to walk through a bedroom just to get to the bathroom. They give the option of choosing from a handful of different kinds of pillows upon request. The staff is friendly. They go out of their way to make sure your stay is fabulous. The food at the restaurants is nice. you will not walk away from breakfast hungry. Highly recommend going to Hard Croc Fisherman's Bar & Restaurant in the Crocodile Bay lodge - you won't regret it. So many lovely plants, flowers, and animals. The gym is MASSIVE. There are multiple trails to walk. Highly recommend going on the Wildlife Lagoon Trail before 7:00a to see the crocodiles. The pool area layout is nice. They provide 30 & 50 SPF sunscreen. The only negatives for the resort the chairs at the pool are NOT comfortable and there isn't any music/speakers on the side of the pool that has the cabanas. You are minutes away from the PJ airport. Some reviewers have mentioned they are annoyed by the sound of the planes leaving during the day - but it is basically like hearing someone with a lawn mower for a minute or two. Best part is when you check out they drive you right to the airport and you can walk onto the plane as you are already checked in at the hotel. The hotel will drive you into town if you would like to visit a grocery store or restaurant.

Beautiful resort, beautiful people and the food was amazing! We had a blast on the ocean with knowledgeable and fun going guides where we caught 2 marlin, 1 sailfish, 2 rainbow runners and a rooster! Outstanding time with good friends. The nature all around was magnificent. The rooms were clean, beds comfy and the grounds were impeccable.

Fishing is legendary, food was great & the weather was perfect. I’d recommend Botanika to anyone looking for a fantastic outdoor experience with all the comfort of a boutique hotel. The fishing stories will last a lifetime!!!!! Also, very friendly staff

This is a luxury resort with timeshares and also a joint sharing of the site with Crocodile Bay. However, they seem to have done this build right in comparison with other resorts that I have stayed at. They have several trails around the property where they have maintained rainforest. As a result the wildlife seems to coexist with the hotel quite happily. It is well worth going on walks around the property at all sorts of different times. You can do a guided night walk and could see all sorts of things. During the day you will find squirrel monkeys, howler monkeys, and white-faced capuchins, then once you get your eye in, sloths sleeping. There are also crocodiles in the lagoons, as well as a massive variety of birds. Breakfast if not included is expensive, but it is worth having it at least once, just to sit outside where there is a feeding station that they put out fruit for the birds, and frequently it is visited by all sorts of other things. It is also worth noting they have a free boat service to a nearby sandy beach which also has a great little bar/restaurant serving. Overall we loved it, and would definitely stay here again.

I happened to stumble upon this gem by being a Hilton Honors member and I am so glad to have found heaven on earth. The location was remote and in the middle of the rainforest. So worth the 3+ hour ride from Manuel Antonio and the 30 minute flight back to San Jose. We were a party of five and had the two-bedroom family apartment that was exquisitely designed and filled with amenities. Which proves you can visit the jungle and not have to “rough it”. The pool was great the food was delicious the staff was accommodating, the weather was perfect and the wildlife was on full display. Can’t wait to my next visit here.

We had an excellent week at Botanika. The staff was wonderful and helpful. The property was beautiful. It was our first time in Costa Rica and this was a terrific home base for adventures around the area for rookies. We didn't rent a vehicle and we did not need a vehicle. The hotel picks you up from the plane and you can check in for your return SANSA flight in the hotel lobby before you leave. They drive you straight to the plane when it is time to go. We walked most places or had a driver take us. The wildlife and scenery at the hotel were definitely better than I imagined. It was January, so many migratory bird species were here. I could post dozens of pics of birds, but I will spare you. We saw various monkeys, sloths, iguana, green & red macaws, bats, and even a crocodile while walking around the hotel. Dolphins are in the gulf, tidepools are not far away, and the hotel provides various tours of the area. We also were not far from other local tour operators (walking distance). The room was bigger than we needed, but it was very nice. It included a separate bedroom with king bed, full kitchen, walk in shower, separate living room, and a balcony with furniture. We were able to watch monkeys, hummingbirds, macaws, etc from the balcony. We didn't make our own food, but we could have done so. It was more like a fully furnished apartment. I think we ate at every restaurant at this hotel. The breakfasts were very good and, luckily, the restaurant opened at 5:30AM so we didn't have to wait around to eat before we left for the day. Room service was also very fast and very good (in case you are returning from a full day of hiking or kayaking and just don't want to leave the room). I have traveled for decades (mostly for business) and I rarely visit a hotel pool. I visited this pool several times. This pool was warm, very large, landscaped beautifully, and the pool backed up to trees. We could watch iguanas and birds while in the pool. Also, the cabanas were available to anyone without an extra charge. That was pretty useful for the guests with children. The hotel property has paths they call "Nature Trails" and they are very short paths if you are a hiker. However, we saw monkeys nearly every day, birds everywhere, and enjoyed the little walks to the shoreline. The paths all seem to end at a nearby pier. The pier is where the boar tours begin and end. They also provide paddleboards for Stand-Up Paddleboarding. The water is very calm, so SUP was really easy and fun. We were concerned about crowds. We arrived during the dry (peak) season, but it wasn't crowded. Everywhere we went, we rarely found many people. The best part: Costa Rican people are 100% amazing people. It was a wonderful vacation.
