Servatur Altamar

Booked the hotel 3 months beforehand. Arrived at the hotel only to be told the room we booked and wasn't available. The check in staff told us it was on a first come first served basis. Although we paid extra for the room when booking our holiday, the room they put us in was incorrect. Upon showing the hotel our reservation, we were instantly called liars by the check in member of staff. At no point did anyone assist us with the reservation error. We were told by both the hotel manager and tour operator that they were investigating the issue and to wait. We waited and waited after many conversations, complaints but we never got assistance from either party. All we got told by the hotel manager is, the error was with the tour operator and all we got told by the tour operator was, the error was the hotels. We were left without our room we paid for and made to feel like piggy in the middle with no resolution. The only reason for booking to stay at the hotel was for the room we initially booked. Both the tour operator and the hotel had 3 months to make us aware that there had been an error but they waited until we checked in. If we had known earlier we wouldn't had chance to stay at another location/hotel/country. A family holiday ruined by poor management and very poor service.

Suite of rooms for our family of 5 was really spacious with great view of the sea, all inclusive food was very decent, one of the best we have experienced with something for everyone (fantastic guacamole every day). Not for everyone if you don’t like stairs .. Only thing I’d say is there could be more equipment in gym (maybe a rowing machine) and the machines they have could do with a service.. maybe time of year but no insect bites for any of us o this trip.

Pros - beautiful sea views from all rooms. Rooms are spacious and they have huge balconies with sunbeds on. Lots of variety of food, although some of the food was often luke warm. Beautiful pool areas and never had to worry about getting a bed. Availability of drinks was also good. Cons - some staff were really helpful and friendly and some staff found it hard to put a smile on their face. Didn't feel like you got that personal touch like you do in other hotels. Entertainment was an organist every night which was boring so we went out every night. Although the room was clean on arrival it was barely touched by the cleaner. I have stayed at The Eden prior to this on two occasions, who are now also owned by Servataur and rhe only reason we didnt book there is it is booked out to the Scandinavians until after Easter. The Eden is superb. Would return to the Altamar if entertainment changed and staff made you feel more welcome.
