Tiki Hôtel - Hôtel d'Application du Lycée de Tahiti

Our stay at this hotel - actually two stays in early and late May - can be described as strange. It is all dus to the fact that the hotel is part of the educational facility where it is situated. The first room was not bad, and was as expected. The restaurant was closed as it was examination time, so no one to cook and serve. Breakfast took some time, as only one person was there to serve. When we arrived for our second stay, there was nobody at the hotel. We had to make a phonecall and wait for 25 minutes, after which the lady - not a student - told us that we had been expected to arrive earlier - even if we clearly communicated our arival time - and that due to holidays and exams the hotel was as good as closed - so we were 'upgraded' to staying in one of the cottages in front of the hotel. Together with people in the other cottage we were the only guests in a closed hotel. They should announce situations like this beforehand - we booked via Booking com and there was no mentioning of this. The hotel is situated on a campus, so you have to pass an electronic gate to enter (and leave). During the last few days of our stay a large funfair opened en route to the hotel, starting from 5 pm. As a consequence there were enormous traffic jams, through which you patiently had to make your way to the gate. The first time it took us almost an hour to pass this area - later on we managed to avoid arriving/leaving the hotel after 5 pm. Not a place to recommend the way we experienced it - but maybe it is different when you stay there in a different season?
