Chateau de Rilly

What a fantastic trip to beautiful Chateau de Rilly! It is located in an adorable town in between Reims and Epernay. The Chateau is walking distance from everything in this small town. Caroline greeted us when we first checked in - with so wonderful to have you visit us! Our terrace room was superb with a veranda that overlooked the church steeple and town. During our stay Severine & Adrien waited on us every day for breakfast and a couple nights at dinner. The food was very good! Patrick oversaw the restaurant and bar. We were there for five nights and could have stayed longer. Thank you for a delightful retreat and so good to get out and about again and travel!

We stayed here in June with a group and found the service to be stuffy and off-putting with the exception of Patrick, who was very accommodating. The rooms were nice, although the A/C weak on the hottest day. Little storage space for clothes if you need to unpack for any length of time. Our biggest issue was the fact that we did not need a full breakfast with lunch and dinners every day, but a carafe of coffee and some orange juice was desired. It was like pulling teeth despite breakfast being included. The staff was reluctant to even have us take a glass of orange juice up to our room and one morning we were told 'breakfast was over' once the group had left even though they were still offering breakfast to the general public. Housekeeping was also spotty - towels not necessarily replaced when put on the floor, coffee and water not always replaced, and once a half-used bottle of water left in our room. Overall, I would not return given the cost of the rooms.

We stayed here for a weekend with four friends. The chateau is beautiful and tastefully combines old with new. Service was very attentive and friendly. Breakfast was epic but needed a bit patience. But spending time on the terrace was so enjoyable that we did not mind at all. From the chateau you can easily walk to many many wine makers and staff even helped me carry the boxes of champagne we had bought during the day from my car to a storage place so that it doesnt cook in the trunk during the day. Rooms are spacious with very comfy beds. Only recommendation is you request rooms out to the front yard if you dont want noise from the terrace bar till midnight.

Chateau de Rilly is like staying at a private hotel at a fraction of the cost of this level of elegance. We stayed with a group of twenty for five nights and experienced an unforgettable stay, using several venues which overlook gorgeous champagne vineyards. The town itself has a myriad of small champagne houses to delight you, and three cafe-type restaurants. But Chateua de Rilly has the best and most elegant meals. The rooms were appointed with new linens and towels, replaced daily. An amazing breakfast includes local cheeses, meats, fresh baked pastries, homemade preserves, and eggs made to order. The two three course dinners were beautiful and served with panache. The overall service is crisp and attentive and friendly. One feels like a treasured guest. Umbrellas await your departure for morning rains. The bartender makes fabulous cocktails which you can enjoy in the cozy, gorgeous bar or out on the garden terrace overlooking the reflecting pool. We had a very pleasant stay. Price-quality of hotel and restaurant is very good. Great hospitality of reception and service. Chateau de Rilly is nicely located in a quiet village, between touristic Reims and Epernay.
