The Pope's Window

The management and staff at "The Pope's Window" are truly amazing. Francesco, the owner, is so very kind, thoughtful and patient. "The Pope's Window" is very close to the Vatican, making other highlights of Rome easily accessible. "The Pope's Window" is conveniently located across the street from a Taxi stand and is in close proximity to several very good restaurants. I would highly recommend this facility for the real feel of living in Rome.

Great accomodation for the price, great location and fantastic staff. Paola very helpful. Close proximity to the Vatican. Local food in the area also very good. Thumbs up from us. Goods place to stay if you don’t want to be in the middle of things, but want to be close.

It is hard for me to give The Popes Window an adequate review when only being offered 1-5 stars. I could easily justify 10-15 stars. If you are going to visit the Vatican or St Peters you will not find a closer place to lay your head. The same can be said if you will be sight seeing in and around Rome. You are literally 2-3 blocks from the Vatican. It is surrounded by MANY restaurants, taxi stands and grocery stores. The rooms are great - cold AC, great daily housekeeping, snacks and kitchen availability, WIFI accessibility - and of course a window view that is totally Rome. You can obviously see the Vatican. These things all add up to a great review of the location and The Popes Window amenities. But that is only a portion of why I, and our entire group highly recommend this place. The owner of the property Sao Paulo, his cousin and the rest of his staff are the most wonderful people we have come across in our travels. Not only did they work with us in setting up the stay (from the US) but they also helped us arrange a special dinner reservation for a travelers 80th birthday. But that was just the start. We were treaded like family when we arrived. And when one member of our traveling party took ill and ended up in the local hospital for over a week Sao Paulo immediately rushed to the hospital, told the staff he was the patients family and bridged the language gap that was frustrating both the family and hospital staff. He came to the hospital daily to speak for us with the staff and made sure we had everything we needed. He even went as far as making sure the family members that stayed behind with the patient had places to stay after our reservations had run out. There is NO WAY our experience in Rome, and especially at the hospital, would have worked out had he not been involved. BTW - we found out at the hospital that when Covid hit Rome he shut The Popes Window down and allowed nurses from the hospital to stay there so they didn't have a long commute after working long, tiring hours. Again - 15 stars? Yep this US based group is forever in his debt - both for showing us a wonderful time, and for treating us as family when we needed an ally. Stay there - you won't regret it.
