We had a really great nights stay at Paradis Malahide. Firstly the service was awesome and as a close second was the restaurant - some of the best food so far on our Rwanda trek. Accommodations are simple but good - clean with comfy beds, right on the waters edge. Wish we had been able to stay for a second night for a little more R&R and to get out on a boat.

If you are planning a visit to Lake Kivu in Rwanda, this is the place to stay. The rooms are comfortable, the staff are simply amazing and the location is great being along the shores of Lake Kivu. Their restaurant has an amazing outdoor seating area which is on the shores of Lake Kivu. A great place to sit in the evening enjoying the sunset while drinking a cup of coffee - which is excellent at this hotel. There is no Wi-Fi in the rooms, but that is perfectly fine since it is fast and reliable at reception.

Great location on the lake shore, beautiful view, nice garden and cosy open air restaurant with very good food. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The bungalows are in front of the lake and confortable, all was great ...BUT I would suggest to change the outside white light bulb to yellow ones in order to create a more eco-friendly atmosphere!

My partner and I stayed at Paradis Malahide for 10 days. It was beautiful and relaxing. You can swim easily from the private beach area or from the rocks by the restaurant. We personally preferred jumping in from the rocks rather than wading in from the beach, so it's nice to have both options. The service was impeccable with room service offered every day and friendly servers at the restaurant. The food is very tasty and the included breakfast is very generous. At the front desk they are helpful with recommendations and guidance in the area, they even offered their first aid kit when one of us was feeling ill and we were searching for a pharmacy. We highly recommend Paradis Malahide and hope to stay there again at some point in the future.

As far as the public areas of this hotel are concerned, they are good and interesting as somewhat unusual. It gives the place some character. The food was also plentiful in choice and quite delicious. The hotel offers beach side dining and breakfast, which is great on a sunny day. The hotel is let down by its rooms. The first night, we had a room with a tatty bathroom, the water pressure was almost zero, the shower basin did not drain and the mosquito net was tight. We were offered another room upon complaining. This had a much better water supply and the basin drained. Both rooms were very noisy with traffic passing on the adjacent road day and night. I would not chose this hotel again as there are much nicer and quieter ones along the lake shores and at similar prices.

I recently visited and spent one night. I was looking for a small setting that was close to the lake and quiet and offered a natural setting, Well, I got it. The bed was comfortable; the rooms are a bit dark if you stay in the bungalow and are modest and made of stone and other natural materials. I was there in the rainy season so had no issues with bugs, or mosquitos. The staff are attentive and very helpful. The food is pretty good, I ordered what I believed would be fast otherwise, it is advised to order ahead. Special thanks to the front office staff, Prosper, and two dining staff members, Ellie and Emmanual, both pleasant and cheerful and offered great service.

We had a bad experience at this hotel. The shower and bathroom in our room had literally hundreds of dead ant carcasses covering the floor when we arrived, and we heard scratching and crawling noises from inside the walls at night (we saw a mouse at one point so assumed that's what it was). Our bed (for two people) was two twin-sized beds pushed together, and the mosquito nets were also twin-sized, meaning if we had the mosquito nets down, we were separated by the net all night, which was odd. The stairs going up to our room were insane--incredibly uneven and tilted at angles so extreme I thought there was no way they could have expected guests to use them safely. The service was very slow at the restaurant, and I felt sick the next day after eating their food (the only time food made me sick in my two-week trip). Overall I would absolutely not recommend staying here.
