The Captains Motel

Now called The Captain's Motel. Really good value and very clean and crisp. Decor is lovely and bedding, towels etc were excellent. The 2 bedroom accomoatuon was very roomy for 4 females and all of our luggage. Highly recommend this as a place to stay. Wish it had been warmer so we could have enjoyed thd beautiful and lush pool area.

We, a family group of 9 stayed 3 nights whilst attending a family Wedding in charming Russell that had been rescheduled twice due to the pandemic so had regular communication with the wonderful James and Wendy updating many changes. On all occasions, dealings were friendly, accommodating and prompt. When we finally arrived were made very welcome by Wendy and James, checked in and shown to our airy, spotless, roomy and tastefully decorated apartments, stopping to admire the beautiful gardens and outdoor seating areas whilst we casually chatted with Wendy. The beds were very comfy, nice linen and new pillows, kitchen was equipped with all the modern catering needs and we had a new large fridge freezer for all our self catering supplies which was a nice surprise. Bathroom was spotless clean, shower had great pressure and towels were good quality making our stay even more enjoyable. Well maintained property in great location about 8 minute leisurely walk to main town. We highly recommend to all looking for good value, relaxed atmosphere and an excellent base to explore historical Russell and beyond. The room was clean and had everything we needed e.g. microwave, milk in the fridge, coffee, wine glasses. All credit to James and Wendy for having a folder of local information for us to read. The King sized bed was great and I had a great sleep in it. I liked the two pillows. We appreciated having two fans in the room as it was humid. It was a shame we didn't get to check out the pool.

We had a one bedroom apartment which was well equipped and very clean. The owners were helpful and friendly and looked after us really well. It was convenient for the town and local amenities. We were even met by a resident Weka who walked past us without a murmur!
