Stayed 2 nights whilst visiting the area. Positives: well priced, well located, spacious room, tea and coffee facilities were good. Negatives: room layout a bit odd, with a bath in front of the window and a wet room that had seen better days. The locks on the doors are pretty poor. In fact the room door wouldn’t lock very easily and the closing arm needed adjusting, the fire door at the top of the stairs was unnecessarily heavy, the front door required slamming to shut and the front gate was a pain. So entry and exit wasn’t a pleasant experience. The shampoo and conditioner didn’t work, there was no shower gel. Overall the place has the potential to be very good, but it feels in need of a bit of tlc.

Period Stay lovely period building / very Emily Brontë :-) Owners were very helpful and the rooms pleasant. Parking is a little convoluted as you have to go to the house collect the parking voucher and return to the car and do the same on departure but the car park is only a few minutes walk away.

Great hotel in the centre of Ruthin with excellent service.

Great hosts and nice guesthouse/b&b The room was very spacious and comfortable. The property is old (steeped in history) but the room had all the features we needed. The instructions were excellent and the owners were incredibly responsive and helpful. The bed was a little creaky and the pillows were a little thin/soft for my preferences, but perfectly comfortable and adequate. Great value for money. Great location. Highly recommend the breakfast!! A great stay - would stay again.

Stylish place to stay We have stayed at the Manorhaus several times and it is always a pleasure. Gavin was particularly helpful and welcoming and our dinner was tremendous. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Ruthin.

Stay at Wales countryside Good stay at Manorhaus, friendly and flexible!

A great little spot Great little family run boutique hotel. Lovely little bar and restaurant and even a tiny little basement cinema. It's only available for special film nights or private parties, so didn't get to see a film there yet, but I will...!! Well worth a visit..

Delightful Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Characterful old building with smart individual decor. Great food for breakfast and dinner. Lovely views across to clwydian hills from our room. Two minutes walk from town square.

Interesting hotel Very comfortable room, clean and interesting artwork about . We didn’t see anyone from the hotel as it’s self check in and check out, all a bit odd, but it worked ok.

Charming and delightful What a delightful experience staying at this charming yet uniquely boutique hotel. The comfort surpassed expectations, and the hospitality of the owners was exceptional. The culinary delights were truly impressive. Additionally, the events and cinema nights added a special touch should you be a local resident, loved this concept. . Located conveniently in Ruthin, it's the perfect spot for those attending events at the castle.

Unfortunately we didn’t love it here. It is a lovely boutique style hotel, with some lovely touches like a cafetière in the room, dressing gown and slippers, and the decor was very nice, run by a lovely gentleman and his partner. But there were a few very fundamental things that really let the place down. The lock on our door was broken meaning it wouldn’t lock from the inside. It didn’t have a latch, so you needed to lock it just to shut it. The man was very helpful but couldn’t fix it so we just had to ram a chair against the door to keep it closed. It was downstairs right next to the front door, so we didn’t feel very secure and just didn’t know if someone would just wander in. Turned out only 2 of the rooms were taken that night so in hindsight why didn’t he just put us in a secure room!? It took until late the next day to resolve by giving us an alternative key, after me chasing and calling to follow up. That evening we thought it might be nice to have a drink in the bar….hit there was no ice, which is quite fundamental for a bar really. Then we were charged £18 for 2 gin and tonics! Jolly glad we only had one!! We chose not to have breakfast as well was that was also rather overpriced. There was also little things like you had to unplug the tv to boil the kettle! And the bed had a weird hard ridge round the outside and when you lay on it you were slightly tilted backwards. Anyway it was ‘fine’ just a little bit like it was trying to be something special and it wasn’t and hugely disappointing that they thought it was ok to offer us no solution to the lock issue / pretty basic.

The decor is very carefully thought out in a modern way, considering the age of the property. The parking is two blocks away in a public parking lot but a parking pass is provided by the hotel to use throughout one’s stay. However unloading luggage on a narrow two way street before going to the parking lot is precarious. We did not eat any evening meals here because we were there on a Sunday and Monday nights when their restaurant is closed. The breakfast we had one morning was good but overpriced. We ate at a hotel facing the square at the top of Wells Street the other two mornings. Liked the red metal drop-down desk in our room and the choice of textiles used in the room’s furnishings. Apparently there is a library available and a mysterious video room in the basement but we were not told about either of these amenities.
