La Sapinière

This is a beautiful hotel, right across the street from Omaha beach. My daughter loved having her own loft in the family suite. She could see the ocean from her window. There were patio doors opening onto a garden with a small table and chairs. The beds and pillows are comfortable. Rooms are very spacious. They do not have coffee or tea in the room. Light on toiletries. No refrigerator. No USB ports for charging, so, if you’re American, you need an adapter.

Very slow service after arrival at 19:15. Poor quality of food. Shared a warm goats cheese salad, that was basically just above fridge temperature on lettuce dripping with oil. 1) Previous: Fish, chips & peas - used to be large fish well cooked, peas and golden chips. This time dry 2x small overcooked fish, a sauce of ? and chips so hard they snapped when forked to eat. 2) Previous: Mussels in cream sauce with fries. This time arrived as very petit small mussels. Dry chips. Very salty cream sauce. Many unopened discarded. 3) Pitcher of rose - accommodating - but have had better at the price. Thoroughly disappointed and phone number removed from iPhone list of local restaurants . No photos submitted as the meal was so poor.

My aunt and I really enjoyed our stay here. We wanted to be as close to Omaha Beach as possible and we certainly were. I went out at 6:30 AM to see the beach at low tide. We slept very well in our double room. You may need help learning how to lock the door if you aren't used to French locks. The location was nice and quiet and there was plenty of parking. Just across the road is a nice memorial to the Native American soldiers. The breakfast was really good. We'd come back.

Charming does not begin to describe this fabulous seaside boutique hotel/resort - our family of 6 (including young children) spent two wonderful nights here - we had duplex room with a loft - we spent every evening in the expansive garden, enjoying wine and the beautifully manicured grounds. The restaurant was delicious, with daily specials, kind attentive staff (especially to those of us who embarrassingly speak poor French!) with a lovely breakfast buffet perfect for everyone and a snack hour and card games outside that we wish didn’t have to end. Our kids spent every evening at the bocce ball pit with other guests. The reason for our visit: to commemorate D Day, pay our respects to the cemetery and see the memorials was so meaningful and we learned so much. The hotel was perfectly located to do it all.
