I was skeptical about the hotel after reading the reviews and considered re-booking elsewhere multiple times. However, I was surprised! The pro's: (we stayed under the Tru brand) Lobby is big, clean and welcoming Rooms were clean and had no issues Breakfast was good; however they ran out of items quickly. I believe the hotel was sold out. I felt comfortable walking the street to our hotel, the one with lots of bars/restaurants, but the block the hotel sits on questionable. Staff was friendly. Good walking distance to the convention center. The cons: Parking-expensive for valet, off street parking is only valid for 2 hours, so we parked and kept updating the meter. I was kinda nervous to leave my car on the street, but it was fine. Neighborhood- kinda sketchy. There are lots of sketchy people hanging out at the library, so it made me nervous to leave my car parked on the street. Rooms: while the rooms are clean, they are a little smaller (including the bed) than I like, but we made it work with a family of 4. Would I stay again? Maybe depending on the prices of the other hotels in the area. The hotel felt incomplete and it's like they are still renovating or didn't pay attention to details. The elevator area is original to the building, which is cool, but the floors needed to be cleaned and when you went from the elevator area to the hallway, it was just had this weird vibe.
