Hôtel Koh-I Nor by les Etincelles

Appartement spacieux et vue magnifique, jolie petite piscine mais ménage qui laisse à désirer, manque d’équipements et dégradations non réparées (poignées de porte, porte, et robinets notamment). Mais surtout presque tout le personnel certes poli mais très très inefficace (réception catastrophique, attente au bar déplorable) et indigne d’une résidence qui se veut 5 étoiles. En revanche le personnel de la navette était particulièrement sympathique et efficace.

Estamos aun en el hotel donde pasamos los últimos 6 días en familia. Un hotel ubicado sobre las montañas de Val Thorens con ski in and out como buscábamos. La habitación muy buena. Espaciosa con excelente vista a las montañas. Buena ropa blanca, amenitties con lo justo. Los restaurantes del hotel al mi gusto les falta variedad. Tiene uno con mucho pescado y otro chico con un menú escaso. El bar que es un lugar precioso con hermosa vista, sirven un menú muy escueto a la noche ( casi nada). No entiendo porque no pueden servir lo que llevan a las habitaciones, como ser hamburguesas, sándwiches etc. Deberían como hotel 5 estrellas servir eso en el bar. Cenamos una vez en el restaurante de abajo y luego tuvimos que salir todas las noches. Si hubiese más variedad en el hotel hubiéramos quedado ahí. Mucho mejor. Luego de esquiar todo el día. La piscina muy chica para la cantidad de habitaciones. No tenes donde poner tus cosas cuando se junta mucha gente. Poco espacio. Debería ser muchísimo más grande. El hotel sin duda más allá de la críticas es muy lindo, aunque debería ver como mejorar esas cosas.

Arrived this afternoon and not impressed, this far. Radiators in room are lukewarm whilst on full. Room is freezing. Reception do not answer the phone. Was calling for 30 minutes, then had to go to reception. The lady said there wasn’t a problem but then realised “someone” had put the phone on silent?!?! A technician was supposed to be coming to the room to check the TV. Waited for 40 minutes. I called reception and was eventually answered after 3 minutes, only to be told the technician isn’t here until tomorrow. The prices are 5* but the hotel isn’t. I’d say an average 3*. Does not feel like an “extra-mile” 5* culture, except for Timothy in the bar today. Let’s see how the rest of our stay goes.

On our last day here at the Koh I Nor and have marked it a 5* review. Overall we have had a fantastic stay. Rooms were clean and accommodating. There is a second door inside which shuts out the noise from the corridor. Although a bit manic the breakfast was excellent. Special mention to Leah whose beautiful smile greeted us every morning. Reception staff helped us with restaurant reservations and organised the minibus (free around town) which we made use of most days. The spa is a great way to relax at the end of the day. It has a big sauna, steam room and functional pool. Kids could use it until 6pm which was fun for them. The ski room was amazing. The staff were so helpful. They took your skis from you at the end of the day and helped you get ready in the morning. Thank you to the staff here who are all brilliant. Bar staff were also brilliant. End of day beers on the veranda in the sunshine was just perfect. Traveller tip get the minibus WhatsApp number from reception so you can call ahead to get collected. Overall the minibus service was excellent and credit to Thierry who looked after us. There were a couple of things the hotel could do to improve and these have already been mentioned in other reviews. The main issue we had was that the room is so hot at night, even with all radiators turned off. This means you have to sleep with the balcony door open (no windows) and are then subject to all the outside noise of delivery vans and noisy people. The minibus is a great option but we had a few times when we were told a few minutes and it took more like 20. One evening there was no answer but we were in walking distance so it wasn’t a problem. We will return to this hotel if we ski here again.

Excellent family location. Beautiful, well equipped apartment with a stunning view of the mountains. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Small issue with toilet which was fixed within the hour. My only slight complaint would be that for 2 bathrooms there was only one toilet and the lift servicing the whole residence was slightly slow. The hotel terrace was a lovely place to unwind after a day’s skiing and the pool was excellent and rarely busy. Ski in ski out did involve a walk upstairs through the hotel and the run was quite challenging for beginners but this is not the hotel’s fault and mostly due to the end of season conditions when we went. The hotel shuttle service was also brilliant Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend

We enjoyed our stay in April. Good location for getting on and off the mountain, lovely staff who were friendly and helpful.
