We have just checked out after a three night stay at the lovely La Baronnie. As we pulled up to the grand double doors it was impossible to believe that the hotel we'd fallen in love with online lay beyond. On arrival we were greeted with a warm smile and a thorough tour of the hotel and its impressive grounds. We spent our nights in the superior room 'Rose de Parme'; it was light, summery and the decor was delightful. We were bless with lovely weather during our stay so welcomed having the large windows open all night long. The bathroom was spacious and try towels and dressing gowns fluffy! Our view onto the grounds was charming. Our visit was slightly different to the one that we had anticipated, as we had just recently discovered that we were expecting. Not only did this mean I couldn't sample the generous lashings of seafood and white wine on offer, but it also meant we couldn't try out the spa, and we didn't manage breakfast any day as my eating patterns were all out! Saying that both looked more than welcoming. The position of the hotel is excellent, it really couldn't be closer to the heart of Saint Martin, but with the really feel that you are staying in the heart of the French countryside. Beyond all of the above was the friendliness of all the staff. From my many pre-visit emails to borrowing umbrellas, nothing was too much trouble! We will be back to use one of those family rooms!

The room was a reasonable size, a little cold (but not surprising given it's an old building). The bathroom was only separated by a curtain from the bedroom, which was unusual. The TV was small and too far away from the bed to be watched while lying down. The breakfast really annoyed me and put me in a bad mood for the day! I thought €18 per person for breakfast extremely expensive, but when I discovered that you had to be pay even more to have eggs for breakfast, I felt it was an absolute rip-off! I mentioned it to the Manager who said they'e had similar feedback from other guests and would change in the future, however, that was not yet the case and any warm food for breakfast was between €2 and €8 extra on top of the €18. A disgrace!

We stayed as a couple in late July for 6 nights and had the Captain's room which was charming and spacious, but let down by the flimsy bathroom which was a tiny add-on with an awkward to access shower. After a disappointing start with a booking issue where our daughter and partner were with short notice, unable to fulfill long awaited travel plans to join us, we should have (I suppose) been grateful that the hotel took only their deposit and three of the six nights fee. This took much negotiation over the phone on our daughter's part, as the whole six nights were originally to be their punishment. As the circumstances were upsetting, emotional and genuinely extenuating and their room probably re-booked instantly, we arrived with a rather negative mind set. We did however appreciate the charming and historic setting, pleasant gardens (with so much more potential yet) and especially the staff at reception who were extremely helpful, friendly and patient with our requests along the way. The spa was out of the question at its price point and we never saw it used, the bar which was open for just a couple of hours a day had problems with tap beer and seemed to be a rather ad hoc arrangement generally (for a Hotel). Others have mentioned the WIFI set up which was frustrating to say the least. The sitting or lounge area was not particularly appealing so we didn't use it. We wondered if a pool might be a good addition as there is certainly the space for one. The location was ideal and close to the lovely Port with loads of nice places to eat. Generally the Ile de Re was just lovely and we especially enjoyed bike riding to the other towns and beaches; truly a 'French' experience. La Flotte was a standout where we ate a superb lunch at L'ecailler but we were really pleased that we stayed in Saint Martin where Le Serghi was our favourite dining experience.

Superb location. Excellent room with a very comfortable bed. Good breakfast and great, helpful staff. Enjoyed using the small outdoor swimming pool Nice quiet bar to have a couple of drinks in the evening. Hope to return to Ile de Re, which we loved, and this excellent hotel.

It was our first visit to both Ile de Re and la Baronnie. We had a wonderful time. La Baronnie is a hidden gem in the middle of the town. It's charm, and gardens quickly weave their magic, creating a cocoon of oeace and calm. The pool is the icing on the cake! The staff were helpful, kind and made our stay even more special. Special thanks to Anabel, Steven, Maxim, Marine, and Charlotte. We hope to return again in future. Thank you.

Just returned from this amazing hotel. We arrived very early, no problem checking in well before official time. Parking is safe and to the rear of the property. The pool is in the sun most of the afternoon, if you use it. The courtyard area in front of the bar is a lovely spot to enjoy a relaxing drink, breakfast indoors and/or outdoors is great. We loved our room up on the 2nd floor and will look to stay in that one again when we come back. Words don't really convey the ambience of the hotel that makes it just so much better than the many other hotels we stay in. I can't explain the vibe, but it's relaxed but very organised (in the background) that you don't realise how well run this place must be. It feels like a nice genteel family home and the owners make you feel most welcome, without being intrusive.
