We stayed on a Saturday night. Got there early just to put our bags in and were told we would not be able to go to our room until after check in time of 3pm as there was staff sickness which was not a very good start (no actually time was stated so we kept going back to see when the room would actually be free). No apology given. The room which had supposedly been cleaned was beyond dirty - I've never stayed anywhere like it! Thick dust everywhere, shower screen dirty, bathroom mirror dirty, the basket which had the complimentary tea bags was mouldy and filthy and the bed was really just a pile of springs, the bath mat shredded and grouting round the bathroom floor and toilet - yuk...The walls were paper thin and we were disturbed by a blaring TV and a drunken man shouting on his phone between 11pm and 1.00am next door.... (granted, this is outside of the hotel's control). No bin in the bathroom, no hairdryer and the way the room was presented on arrival was shoddy and showed a complete lack of respect to paying guests. I have since contacted the hotel and have waited almost 2 weeks for a reply. I asked for a partial refund and have just received a curt, one liner today saying no, that wont be happening. The hotel has a bad reputation in the town - we spoke to locals in a nearby bar who warned us what to expect when we checked our room - they weren't wrong. I have contacted my Bank I as I paid through VISA and will lodge a dispute for this payment. Save your £85 and go elsewhere|!!

Wow, popped into this place for some food and drinks, meet with a very warm welcome from all the staff, drinks all ordered and unfortunately just missed out on the food, however the chef went above and beyond offered to do us a mixed meat salad platter, Honestly this needs to been seen to totally appreciate the quality and size of this dish, all homemade and totally delicious, it was just perfect yesterday while sitting out in the sun, Excellent friendly service and great atmosphere, defo revisiting soon,

After reading other comments I think it’s changed hands a few months ago so I’m making an allowance. In saying that the constant reviews recently were all saying about the poor beds. This is probably the one thing that hasto change. The delux room (not sure what constitutes it being delux) beds were very much sub standard. The double sunk in and the single when placing my hand on the mattress to test the firmness, has all the springs pushing through which once laying on was extremely uncomfortable. Change the mattresses and invest in new towels and it will make so much difference on the reviews. The price for the night was cheap so if your looking for cost only, it’ll do you fine.

What a diabolical place to stay. The list of diabolical things are, and not in any particular order: Extremely uncomfortable beds. The springs can be felt however you try to sleep. Pillows need changing. Bedding is appallingly bad quality. The bathroom is a shambles. The sink plug does fit. The shower has no heat in it. The cold bath tap produces a miniscule amount of water. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything. The door key was difficult to open the door and the manager/ owner said it was sometimes a problem ( Room 7 ) but just left me with the key and walked away. The meals are very sub standard. I had a meat pie and chips with peas and gravy. The pie was cold in the middle, the peas vaguely represented peas. The gravy was thick like jelly. Incidentally the pie gave me a upset stomach the following day. Parking is a lottery which sums up the place in general. My only tip would be AVOID AT ALL COSTS. It certainly wasn't cheap, £10 a night would be more representative of the place.
