High quality hotel, pricey but excellent service, staff friendly and attentive. Rooms older in style but first class in quality, comfort. Restaurant Herzl adjacent and associated has very good food and deco. Location in heart of old city excellent for walking, exploring. No views but great walks abound just out the door, along the river or up to the castle. Is short taxi ride from train station. Surrounded by fine shops, eateries, and history. Well worth special stop over for exploration of region, even day trips.

I’ve been visiting Salzburg since 1995, and with our daughter now living here, we’ve stayed in many different places over the years. But none have felt like home the way Hotel Goldener Hirsch does. The hospitality is exceptional. Warm, attentive and genuine. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel not just welcomed, but cared for. Our room was beautifully appointed, with a view overlooking the Pferdeschwemme. It was comfortable in that rare way that makes you want to unpack, settle in and stay a while. Breakfast service delivered to our room each morning allowed us to ease into the day with quiet and comfort. In the evenings, we found ourselves at the hotel bar both before and after dinner, drawn in by the atmosphere and the incredibly welcoming bartender. I wish I had gotten his name. His professionalism, beautiful cocktails and way of making everyone feel like a regular added a layer of warmth that made those evenings feel special. I'm going to return. Hotel Goldener Hirsch is more than a luxury property. It’s where we’ll return, again and again, because it feels like coming home.

Der Empfang war ziemlich chaotisch. Der Receptionist war überfordert. Er entschuldigte sich zwar dass er neu sei…aber trotzdem. So schwierig ist das nicht. Er teilte uns dann mit dass wir ein Upgrade in eine Juniorsuite bekämen. Die Juniorsuite entpuppte sich dann aber als ein ziemlich gefangenes Zimmer ohne Aussicht und wenn wir das Fenster in diesen klitzekleinen Steinwüsten Hof öffneten kam die Abluft von der Küche direkt zu uns in das Zimmer. Wir fragten uns ob das nicht eher ein downgrade war??? Um die Spülung im WC zu betätigen musste man fast ein Schwergewichtsweltmeister sein so mühsam war das. Das Frühstück sah immer sehr schnell sehr zersaust aus und wurde zT. auch nicht nachgefüllt. In diesem Hotel sitzt man auch vorallem zwischen asiatischen Gästen. Das Essen sonst im dazugehörigen Restaurant ist tipptopp. Weiter wurden wir in der letzten Nacht um 23Uhr aus dem Schlaf aufgeschreckt da der Feuermelder in unserem Zimmer extrem laut heulte wie verrückt. Es hörte nicht auf, immer wieder ging es von vorne los. Ich versuchte nun sofort die Reception/Zimmerservice zu erreichen, nach mehrmaligem Versuch ohne Erfolg zog ich mich an und ging runter in die Hotellobby. Da unten standen Feuerwehrleute rum und ein Hotelangestellter entschuldigte sich wegen einem falsch ausgelösten Alarm. Also ging ich wieder zurück ins Zimmer aber durch den ganzen Schrecken konnten wir in den nächsten zwei Stunden nicht mehr einschlafen. Am nächsten morgen bei der Abreise kein Wort der Entschuldigung oder irgendein Entgegenkommen durch das Hotel. Alles in allem also ist dieses Hotel nicht empfehlenswert darum auch meine Bewertung.

The service was excellent! From front desk, bell hops, room service attendants and even the person who oversees the breakfast hours are all incredibly superb. The room was clean and well thought out. The only thing I can think of is you may need to request a roll away if you have a party of three and staying in the junior suite. I mistakenly thought there was a pull out sofa but the bed was big enough for us family of 3. We also had our breakfast included during our stay and it was delish! The hotel is close to everything. I was sad to leave because we were treated so kindly and they really went above and beyond. Thank you Hotel GH team for making us feel so welcome!! A across the board.
