On arrival at the Bahia Cala Millor, the exterior looked clean and modern, on a cul-de-sac with two other hotels at the southern end of Cala Millor. Check in was friendly, informative and pleasant. My room was on the first floor and on initial impression a little small, and seemed to be a part leftover space in the corner of the main two bodies of the building. As a solo traveller, the room was workable, with adequate storage space with on-suite bathroom with large shower. A staple kettle was not in situ, but I asked at reception if I could have one added, to which they kindly accommodated. The hotel is quite, and 30 mins walk to Sa Coma, and 15 mins into the centre of Cala Millor. Staying on a half board basis, with both meals served in the same restaurant brought the main critique of the hotel. The design was not very forgiving, one at peak times, the number of clients being accommodated seems pushed to breaking point, in terms of table layout, and self service. The overall layout of tables seemed to have been crammed in to too small a space, making it incredibly uncomfortable to move without knocking the individual sat behind or aside. The staff were completely over-run at peak time dinner, trying to gain drink orders and clear tables. Gaining access to the various self service stations was a free for all, again at peak times. The overall food quality was fine, nothing exceptional, although I did notice that on Thursday, a Gala Dinner at extra cost is held, including tapa's and drinks in reception, and dinner in the buffet restaurant thereafter, the quality of food increased markedly. Which leads the question, why wasn't the quality at this standard every day. The pool area is fine, sunbeds soon fill late morning. The pool bar offers drinks and food which has certain limitations. The hotel seems to hold a rigid structure of the set menu's on offer are what's on offer! If a cocktail to your requirement is not on the menu, this cannot be made if requested. The main bar inner seating area seems very underutilised, maybe this space could be used to lessen the strain on the restaurant. The main pluses are the staff whom are to each incredibly friendly, hardworking and efficient. Overall a pleasant stay, in a nice resort. Design floors though need to be addressed.
