Gardenia Hotel

What a lovely find... small, charming and authentic. Lovely staff, who couldn't have been more helpful and spotlessly clean. Perfectly positioned - turn left out of the hotel and in two minutes you're at the beach with masses of restaurant choices- the Poseidon and the Apollon both offer good, traditional Greek food and wine at competitive prices; turn right and in two minutes you're in the village, with a supermarket and more bars and restaurants - and the bus stops for regular services to Fira, Oia and Kamari - at €2.50 a trip. The Gardenia isn't the most trendy hotel we've stayed in. It isn't the most luxurious, but with its super pool and pool bar it provides a clean, comfortable and value-for-money base for a memorable holiday on this glorious island.

Perfect place for a low-budget stay or as a base for trips. Full of English pathology on the social, who do not leave the hotel at all and what matters to them is beer and occupying sunbeds. The afternoon service at Aldi is very helpful and competent. The two girls in the morning should be more confident. I recommend choosing a deluxe room. Cleaning every day, new towels every day. Clean but you can see that the hotel is showing its age. For this amount as a base for trips it is not bad. I will not say anything about breakfast because the English eat everything without looking at others.

Stayed as 4 friends. Given 2 rooms next to each other overlooking the pool. Rooms spotlessly clean. Perfect location close to the beach and bars:restaurants. Dining room for breakfast good choices available. Don’t expect choices like all inclusive but we enjoyed it. Staff friendly room cleaned and beds made every day with towel art.

What a lovely place. Our room was fantastic, huge balcony, slight sea view, very quiet and peaceful. The air-conditioning was a godsend as it was quite warm for May. The room was cleaned every day, with fresh towels which were fluffy. We had a fridge in our room which was great for water and snacks. The staff were super friendly and helpful and the pool and poolside bar great. There was no rush for loungers and the place was really relaxed and laid back. What a fantastic holiday. Would definitely recommend.

Stayed for 7 nights in September 2024 with 2 female friends in a triple room no15. It had 1 double & 2 single beds. Hotel is in a good location for all amenities ie beach front, bars, restaurants, buses to Fira. Nice pool area with loungers & snack bar with great Greek salads. Pool is very deep & depth markers are barely visible which surprised me as we booked with Easy Jet Holidays so assumed they would have undertaken health & safety checks & stipulated pool depth markings should be made clearer. See photo. Good value accommodation for the price we paid. Good Wi-Fi throughout hotel. Air con in rooms worked well. Safe available in reception for €1 per day. Friendly helpful staff. BUT… The single beds were hard like concrete & so uncomfortable that we didn’t sleep well. Hot water supply was intermittent - water was cold for 2 days. On other days it changed from tepid to burning hot without warning. Shower head was high up & caused water to be splashed everywhere in the bathroom, unless you used it as a hand held shower which is far from ideal. See photo. A couple more brackets or an adjustable rail would solve this problem. Bathroom & bedroom didn't have any hooks for clothing or shelves for lotions & accessories so the addition of these would be a big improvement at minimal cost. Hotel seemed clean, although when checking under beds on day of departure to ensure we’d not left anything behind, there was an accumulation of deep fluff & dust, much more than 7 days worth.

Great location, spotlessly clean, cleaned , bed made and towel change every day,comfy bed, helpful staff, great pool area. Always start with the positive- disappointed from the moment I saw the hotel, it screamed update needed, the room also needed a good update, it was very tired and so basic, I booked self catering and it had a kettle and a fridge and nothing more. But I loved my stay, I would even stay again strangely enough.
