Where do I even begin? Our recent family holiday at the Alexandra Hotel in Santorini was nothing short of magical. If you’re looking for a warm, welcoming, and utterly charming place to stay on this dreamy island – this is it. It’s not just a hotel; it’s a home away from home… only this home comes with sunshine, a pool, and the most amazing people looking after you. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis. Every morning we were greeted with the smell of freshly scrambled eggs, perfectly cooked and piping hot. There was plenty of choice—from pastries to cold meats, cereals, fruits, and local goodies that changed it up just enough to keep it exciting. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted like old friends by the wonderful family who run the hotel. There’s a genuine warmth to the place that you simply can’t manufacture – the kind of vibe that makes you instantly relax and think, “Yes, this is going to be a good one.” Our room was enormous! A separate bedroom area gave us parents our much-needed space, while the kids had room to spread out, chill, and scroll TikTok in peace. It was spotlessly clean and felt bright and breezy – perfect for unwinding after a day in the sun. Maria, the housekeeper was an absolute legend. Our room was sparkling every single day – fresh towels, crisp bedding, spotless surfaces… and yes, she even did our dishes. I was mortified when I realised, but also secretly overjoyed. Maria, if you’re reading this: you’re a hero. Then there’s Dina, running the bar like a boss – effortlessly multitasking with a smile and somehow always remembering everyone’s drink. The food and drinks were exceptional. A huge, ice-cold beer for just €6? Yes, please! The cocktails were top-notch, and we may have eaten more than our fair share of snacks by the pool… totally worth it. Speaking of the pool – it’s the Goldilocks of hotel pools. Not too big, not too small – just right. The sunbeds were comfy, and while they do get reserved early, we never struggled to find one. The whole pool area had a lovely, relaxed vibe – ideal for lazy afternoons and post-breakfast naps (we weren’t judging anyone). And the location? Spot on. The hotel is literally a two-second walk from the beach – I’ve sneezed longer – and just a 5–10 minute stroll to the main bars, restaurants, and shops along the seafront. Close to everything, but still peaceful. Perfection. We did a couple of organised trips including a sunset boat cruise (totally recommended) and a Greek night at Dimitris just around the corner which was so much fun! We honestly didn’t want to leave. There’s something so special about the Alexandra Hotel – the people, the atmosphere, the way you instantly feel part of something. It’s not flashy or over-the-top; it’s better. It’s real, it’s heartfelt, and it’s absolutely unforgettable. We’re already checking dates for next year, because once you’ve found a gem like this, you don’t let it go. Thank you to everyone at the Alexandra Hotel – you gave us a holiday
