Great stay, friendly helpful staff

What a fantastic place to stay in Vanuatu. Beautiful spot right on an amazing beach. The food at the restaurant was excellent, rooms are great and what an outlook and beach. A fantastic place for a tropical getaway. Heaps to do in the surrounding area too. Highly recommended!

We have just returned from a wonderfully relaxing holiday at Barrier Beach Resort. We stayed in Fare 4 which had direct access to a lovely sunny beach, the water is exactly as you see in the photos, incredibly clear and beautifully warm. The housekeeping staff do a great job and the fare is very clean although it is a little worn. The rain shower is great with really good pressure. Our beachfront fare was not air-conditioned however the ceiling fan coupled with lots of ocean facing shutters meant that we wouldn't have used a/c anyway. The downside of this fare is that it is right next to the restaurant and bar area so it can be noisy early in the morning when staff arrive and start setting up for breakfast or if there are noisy evening diners. All of the pathways around the fares are wooden and can be very slippery when wet, you need to be very careful when walking around. Staff were excellent, very friendly, efficient and helpful. Breakfast is included and was good with fruit, juice, muesli, toast and spreads and eggs scrambled, poached, fried or and omelette with savoury fillings or pancakes offered. More substantial cooked dishes can be ordered for an additional cost. The dinner menu is limited but most of the meals we tried were cooked well. Many vegetables and salad ingredients seem to be very hard to source in Luganville so there was not a lot of variety. Snorkelling directly in front of where you are staying is a very special treat and we snorkelled every day. While there is not a lot of colourful coral as the water is very shallow, there are plenty of fish to be seen. Overall, we had a really enjoyable holiday and hope to return.

The moment you drive into the resort is stunning! The bungalows are literally on the beach. The beautiful breeze, the absolutely stunning blue water & the peace & tranquility is just what you need if you need a well deserved break. The staff are just beautiful, friendly & very helpful. The food is delicious & amazing. We will come back here for sure. Thank you Barrier beach resort.

This resort is really lovely and located on a beautiful and accessible beach. Our Beach side fare (no 7) was clean, comfortable and very private - with direct access to the beach. Kayaks, snorkeling gear and SUPs were free to use, and the snorkeling a couple of hundred metres off the beach was nice. Staff were excellent- super friendly, efficient and welcoming. The entire Resort was immaculately clean and the facilities in general were excellent. The only downside is the restaurant which is the only food option available when we visited. It’s both expensive and underwhelming however we understand this is under review. Breakfast was included in the room rate and was acceptable.

Barrier Beach resort is in a great location with good snorkeling out the front and turtles and dugongs swimming just offshore. The accommodation is a little worn but very clean. Staff were great and the restaurant was very good. The daily specials added a good variety to the menu. It was quite windy during our visit which apparently is normal for that time of year. This meant that the waves on the beach were noisy at night. However once away from the beach and out of the wind it was quite warm. The beach itself is a little shady but well equipped with water sports gear.
